McLane Access Road, Parking Lots to be Closed
The access roadway and parking lots for McLane, the Health and Wellness Center, and the rear of Scholes Library will be closed to regular traffic from Monday, Aug. 11 at 7 a.m. through Friday, Aug.
15.
Only emergency and construction vehicles will be permitted. Therefore, all vehicles will need to be removed from the parking lots behind McLane, the HWC, and Scholes Library by Sunday, Aug. 10.
The small traffic loop in front of McLane will remain open. We apologize for the inconvenience; it is necessary for critical infrastructure work that must be performed.

Symphonic Band
Do you play a Woodwind, Brass, or Percussion instrument? If so, then sign up for Alfred University's Symphonic Band!
We are looking for musicians of all skills levels regardless of your major. All students are welcome to participate.
Rehearsals are on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5:30 - 7 p.m., with a concert on Friday Dec. 5. The repertoire ranges from orchestral transcriptions to original works composed for band or wind ensemble.

Retired University staff member dies
Norma Kear Rounds, a longtime Alfred University (AU) staff member, died Aug. 5, 2014 peacefully at home with her family by her side.
Norma began working at AU in 1956, first in the treasurer's office, then moved to the physical plant, retiring in 1990. She loved her job, her co-workers and she genuinely loved the University.
Friends will be received from 1 to 3 and 6 to 8 p.m. today, Tuesday, Aug. 12 at the Whitesville United Methodist Church, 446 Main St. Funeral services will take place at 3 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 13, with the Rev. Edwin Jagua and the Rev. Keith Chase officiating.

Music On The Lawn: Howe Library, Wellsville - Cort Dunham & Co.
8/14: Music On The Lawn: Cort Dunham & Friends Thursday, Aug. 14 at 7 p.m.

Music On The Lawn is excited to present one of Wellsville's favorite artists, Cort Dunham. Cort will perform his original music written in the classic rock style of the 1970's. Fellow musicians Louie Norton, Todd McDowell, Justin Cornelius, and George Cretekos will join Cort with additional guest appearances by local artists.
Cort started playing the guitar and writing songs in the 1960's. He has played in various local bands and as well as a solo guitar performer throughout his career. The band Wingman emerged from his solo career from 2003-11. Cort continues writing music and has recently focused on developing, perfecting, and recording his songs.
Music On The Lawn is funded by community businesses and organizations. Programs are free and open to the general public. Bring your lawn chair and enjoy this family-friendly event.

This animated story of a free-spirited Indian woman who defies her father and tribe and falls in love with Capt. John Smith, part of a plundering party from England, was released in 1995. The song and movie score won Oscars.

Agriculture and the rural life were the backbone of Allegany County, but that is rapidly changing. Craig will show, in this illustrated talk, how this evolution has changed the purpose of these rural structures - barns, silos, and outhouses.
