Prof C. F. Binns, Alfred, N. Y.

Dear Professor,

No doubt but that you are aware that I gave up my position at Chicago to come home and take care of my aged father, who has been in failing health several months past and now he’s in a critical condition.

Knowing that you will have calls for ceramic workers or instructors in design I write you, asking if you will assist me in securing a position, provided it does not interfere with your placing any of the present students! I think that I will be at liberty within two or three months.

If you are in need of help, nothing would please me more than to secure a position in the State School as your assistant or instructor in design and modeling.

Trusting that I am not asking too much and that I may hear from you so that I will know your mind in reference to my requests, I remain,

Most sincerely Fred E. Walrath
