NATIONAL DAIRY PROMOTIONS - The promotional efforts of the nation's dairy farmers were recently brought together at the annual meeting of the United Dairy Industry Association. The decision was made due to the wider price ranges and increased price volatility. tee says, “This move informs the public that the market is more speculative.” After participating in agricultural program planning with students and their advisors, he says, "I feel like I can now interact more efficiently with high school students."

34;The advisor deliberately left the orientation of the chapter up to the members, Tim reports, and they let me know what they thought was important for the topic chapter. 34; They also allowed us to clarify any questions they had about FFA. In all, Zane interviewed seven people in Cody, Wyoming, including the school administrator, student counselor, school teachers and community leaders. 34;My week also helped me understand the role of vocational agriculture teachers as well as students.

34;Tim's visit hit our chapter hard. We really appreciated it. The impact his closed-circuit television address had on the students was tremendous.” Paul explains, “We have two lines that refer to the five teams—the first, second, fifth, eighth, and tenth teams. ". The Sparrow family ties are strong and Paul points out: “Working together and understanding each other makes things work. My father has been with horses all his life and taught me a lot about them. My grandfather also helped me because he raised Belgians years ago."

According to consultant Turnbough, the idea was "an outgrowth of the pen-of-five event held at the Curry County Fair last fall." For a time, the pen division proved to be one of the most educational programs associated with the fair.

Farm assets will increase again in 1973 due to continued increases in farm real estate values. Feeder cattle marketing will increase slightly, and cow slaughter will be about the same as last year. Lamb production is likely to decline by a further 4 to 6 percent due to the decline in sheep numbers. Lamb slaughter will be slightly lower than last year, and fed lamb prices will remain unchanged with the exception of seasonal drops.

Milk output per cow, which rose only 2Vi percent last year, is expected to improve as farmers trim their herds according to feed supplies. Farmer area plans indicate a record feed grain harvest if the growing season is normal. Prices on all feed grains are likely to decrease downwards, but remain above last year's until the new crop developments begin to unfold.

Rice The acreage allocation for rice has been raised by 10 percent to over 2 million acres, reflecting tight world supplies. Farmers intend to plant 49 million acres to soybeans, up 5 percent from last year to meet growing export needs. Projections for 1973 indicate that soybean prices will continue to rise, keeping soybeans as the nation's leading cash crop.

Cottonseed production will increase by nearly a third and prices will be lower this year. Flaxseed plantings will decrease by 3 percent and prices will rise. With larger base quotas, farmers will harvest more tobacco, so cash income should gain. A6 percent wheat yield increase in the winter wheat crop is indicated and spring wheat plantings are likely to be 15 percent higher than a year ago. The total 1973 wheat crop is projected to average above 1971's record of 1.618 million bushels.

Therefore, high prices will relieve some, but will probably average 40 to 50 cents above the $1.25 per bushel loan rate. Fruits. Citrus production is expected to reach 13.6 million tons, a 12 percent increase over last year's record harvest. As a result of a poor harvest of deciduous fruits, citrus prices are high compared to last year, but they are expected to decrease.

The exchange of two students between Crosby, Texas and Clinchport, Virginia for one week in each city included transportation of guests to the host state convention. 34;When I traveled this far," reports Randy HeitzofCharlesCity, "we passed through lands some of us had never seen before and will remember the trip for a long time.” The Iowa delegation reached the ocean and tried their hand at digging clams. Chapters can exchange many ideas about fundraising, banquet programs, exhibitions, regular meetings, how to speak,.

One female and two males were given a small but constant amount of alcohol each day during the experimental period. Craig supplied the second pen of one female and two males with an increasing daily amount of alcohol. The "social drinkers", recipients of the minimal amount of alcohol, showed little health effect, but the "alcoholic rats" quickly showed a visual result. Moorman Manufacturing Company hosted the meeting at their sales training center and lunch in the company cafeteria.

Generally they sat around in a daze or waved around drunkenly when they stumbled over for their "swallow". But the damage surfaced when Craigand, the veterinarian, dissected the animals at the end of the two-month experiment. Craig's experiment won first place in his division at the School Science Fair, second in the regional fair, and numerous other awards.

34; Seeing the effect of alcohol on rats has convinced me that I don't want alcohol to be a part of my life," he says.

How Rosewallor aLaver skips ten meters of space in a fast-paced tennis match, puts the racket in front of the ball, which cannonballs at just the right angle so that it slides back into the corner of the court where the opponent is not. The 34;split second'' enables him to feel much of the time in a way that seems incredible to the less gifted and the less trained. to meet the ball.

Why can the top fighters absorb their enemies' punches with the simplest defensive blocks, dropping lightning bolts the moment the less skilled enemy abandons his? Nothing happened except they lost their 'eye'. The ability to slow down moving objects with trained eyes has permanently abandoned these dignified properties. Engineers at the Tour Research Center in Ilion, New York, fired 75,000 rounds with a single Nylon 66 22 caliber, automatic rimfire rifle.

At the end of the test, no malfunctions had occurred and the weapon remained in good condition. Now if you calculate that the average number of bullets fired from a gun in a lifetime is about 5,000 bullets. It is the exclusive Remington design with a super strong structural nylon -DuPont ZYTEL®- as the material for the fork and stock. So using two Nylon 66s in relays (and Peters 22 long rifle cartridges) he had assistants throwing 2% wooden blocks as targets. Of the 100,010 targets thrown, Tom hit all but six - a record that stands to this day. There was no malfunction whatsoever and the weapons were in perfect condition.

Greenhands in Nashville, Arkansas, entertained members with solos and group songs, including "Hail To The FFA." Saturday's work session began with remarks by Assistant Secretary of Agriculture Herb Plambeck. Secretary Jerry Goolsby and Vice President Robert Hinton played a tight defensive game to contribute to the team's score.

The National Officers Basketball team was outfitted in official T-shirts for the big game against Tri-Valley. After the match, chapter members and parents had the opportunity to meet and chat with the national officers over a drink in the cafeteria. Cottington is a major promoter of dairy products and peanut butter, and Brent Schultz and fellow Minnesotans toured a peanut processing plant in Alabama while touring "peanut country."

Highlights of the chapter's past year's activities were presented by John Boyd, including accomplishments up to the current banquet. Eugene Mold gave his slide presentation called "America the Beautiful," featuring scenic photographs he has taken of the United States. National officers braved the cold winds in Washington for the presidential inauguration on the Capitol grounds.

Give a Day to FFA The FFA alumni's major effort to gain membership, called "Operation Teamwork," will continue into the summer. You are an important part of this effort to unite support for the FFA by building FFA Alumni membership in every community across America. Each Alumni member you sign will receive a special membership card. If you help form a partner, your chapter will receive a Charter Certificate and a nice list of Charter Members.

All who enroll ten or more graduating students will receive the Legion of Merit citation and be honored at the FFAC National Convention. Building concrete picnic tables and benches is the main money-making project of the Foley, Alabama, FFA. Building materials cost about $21.00. Because of the time required to set the cement, it takes some members about four hours to form six legs, but less time to make two bench seats.

Foley members also plan to replace tools in the shop this year and hold a spring barbecue with the proceeds. Other placings by members of the Kansas team were: Kent Harbaugh, fourth in beef; Fred Gillig, second in. Ducks always flush in the wind, so they will start your way when they rise from the water.
