Nilon adalah polimer yang tersusun atas heksametilen diamina dengan asam adipat melalui polimerisasi kondensasi. Nilon ialah nama yang diberikan kepada sekelompok polimer sintetis yang terkenal dengan sebutan pliamida.
Contoh : Nylon 6,6
Bahan
Nilon terbuat dari rangkaian unit yang ditautkan dengan ikatan amida (peptida) dan sering diistilahkan dengan PA (poliamida).
Karakteristik
Sifat nilon yaitu kuat dan ringan. Serat riasan nilon tidak menyerap serta halus, menyebabkan barang yang dikonstruksi serat ini bisa cepat kering.
