FACULTY OF MATHEMATICS AND NATURAL SCIENCES EDUCATION GUIDE has been arranged to disseminate information on the education system at the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA), Brawijaya University. This guide is expected to provide an overview of the educational process at the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) of Brawijaya University (UB) for the academic community, teaching staff and the public, especially the first-year students of FMIPA UB of the academic year 2019 /2020 .

Brief History

To ensure the quality of University Tri Dharma and institutional management, FMIPA UB implements internal and external quality assurance systems. Besides, to ensure the quality of its graduates, FMIPA UB has accredited its study program by the National Accreditation Board for Higher Education (Badan Akreditasi Nasional Perguruan Tinggi or BAN-PT) with the predicates of very good and good (Table 1.1).

The studies carried out by FMIPA UB lecturers have a research agenda that follows the existing research at university and national level. The competition fund accelerates the progress and development of learning processes, research and community service in the study program in FMIPA UB.

Semester Credit Unit (SCU)

General Objectives

Semester Credit Unit (SCU)

2) 1 (one) SCU in the learning process of responses/exercises/seminars or other similar forms includes: .. a) 100 minutes of personal meeting per week per semester; and b) 70 minutes of independent learning activity per week per semester. 3) 1 (satu) SCU in the learning process of practicums, studio practice, workshop, field practice, research, community service and/or other similar learning process, 170 minutes per week per semester.

Study Load and Study Period

Semester Credit Unit (SCU) provides students with broader opportunities to establish and manage their study process strategies for the best results according to their plan and condition. Brawijaya University formally follows the Semester Credit Unit established under Rector's Decree number 22/SK/1976, May 3, 1976.

Curriculum Load

The length of study can be completed in less than four years, and the maximum length of study is seven years, which is adapted to UB's internal quality assurance system.

Main Competencies

Advisory administration is regulated in accordance with the decree of the Dean of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences of Brawijaya University. Obedience to the rules of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences UB in religious activities. Every member of the academic community is obliged to prevent violations of the Code of Ethics by anyone in the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences of Brawijaya Universities.

After taking this course, students can prove theorems, lemmas, and other properties of vector space concepts and linear transformations.

The make-up exam and the special exam are intended to improve the final grade of the completed course as:. Report the student's absence during the exam and the desire to take a make-up exam no later than three days after the subject exam, except in cases of force majeure.

The application procedure for the final project exam of the undergraduate program is determined by the faculty, taking into account administrative and academic requirements. A student who has not yet passed the final project exam must follow the decision of the examination board.

Study Success Evaluation

Undergraduate Program Study Success Evaluation

The number of credits a student must collect to complete the undergraduate program study is 144-160 SCU, including thesis/other assignments as determined by the faculty. If students could not complete the undergraduate program by the set time, the student concerned is said to be failing to continue his studies.

Student ID Card (KTM)

Any error when filling in the ID card must be reported to BAK (Bureau of Academic and Student Affairs) in order to be exchanged for the new ID card.

Additional Provisions on Student ID Card and Re-registration

Does not have an identity card, but has the rector's approval to re-register; will receive a temporary ID as proof to re-register. It was not possible to show the student card from the previous semester during re-registration because it has disappeared.

Every new student admitted to the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences of Brawijaya University is required to pay tuition/education fee (tuition fee) according to the provisions stipulated in the decree of the Chancellor of Brawijaya University. After taking this course, students can explain the properties of the real number system and how it differs from other number systems. After taking this course, students can understand and use the fundamentals of the Finite Element method to solve differential equations in the Poisson equation (2-point boundary value problem).

Learning outcomes After completing this course, students are able to design a study based on the objectives and characteristics of the available experimental material.

Purpose and Objectives

The Code of Ethics is formulated with the intention of providing guidelines for all students of the Faculty of Mathematics and Science at Brawijaya University to conduct themselves well in carrying out activities at the Faculty of Mathematics and Science at Brawijaya University and in society in general. The goals to be achieved through the preparation and implementation of a code of ethics are as a joint commitment of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences at Brawijaya University students to realize the vision, mission and goals of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences at Brawijaya University; formation of students who are devoted, knowledgeable and virtuous; create an orderly, regular educational process in a conducive academic climate; as well as to form students who are disciplined, ethical and obedient to legal norms and other norms that live in the society.

Benefits

After completing the course, students are able to construct mathematical statements with mathematical logic symbols, both in the form of sets, relations and functions. After completing the course, students gain an insight into the use of mathematics in the field of probability and stochastic science and are able to present it orally and in writing.

Sanction

Every violator of the Code of Conduct is given the right to defend himself, no later than 1 (one) week after receiving notification of the violation to the person affected. Violators of the code receive a written notification from the head of the faculty or department.

Other Provisions

The Chancellor may consider giving heavier sanctions for breaches of the Code of Ethics after input has been obtained from parties who are aware of the breach of the Code of Ethics. Sanctions for violators of the Code of Conduct can be in the form of: reprimands, strong warnings, suspension for a certain period, and being expelled from the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences UB.
