The purposes of this study are to find out whether mind mapping increase students’ speaking ability or not and to find out the students’perseption about using mind mapping inspeaking ability.
The sample of this study was class XI MIA 1 and XI MIA 3 of SMA Negeri 4 Wajo. To obtain the data, the researcher applied quasi experimental research. The researcher gave pre-test and post-test.
Based on the obtained data by using Ttest and degree of freedom 60 at significant level of α=0.05 showed that the gained score was 44.85. As Ttest was higher than Ttable 1.68 > 1.68, Ha of this research was accepted. Moreover, the questionnaire was made available to all of participant from experiment class. Equally important, the answers that students chose in questionnaires greatly supported that mind mapping is really effective in teaching speaking ability. After all, mind mapping can help students to construct their ideas in practicing speaking better than before..
