RIA OCTAVIA, 2018, Effect of Genre-Based Approach (GBA) on Students' Writing Skill (Pre-Experimental Research on Ninth Grade Students of SMP Muhammadiyah 1 Makassar). The purpose of this research was to determine whether the Genre Approach (GBA) affects students' writing skills in terms of content, organization and language use at SMP Muhammadiyah 1 Makassar. The population of the research was ninth grade students of SMP Muhammadiyah 1 Makassar in the academic year 2018-2019.

This research is an attempt to look for ways that can improve students' writing skills and build up their positive perceptions regarding the acquisition of this skill. Genre based approach is used to carry out the classroom activity in teaching and learning process. There are many researchers researched on genre-based approach in teaching and learning (Khodabandeh, 2014 and Dirgeyasa, 2016).

Based on the above explanation, the researcher is interested in the effect of the Genre-Based Approach (GBA) on students' writing skills. Does Genre-Based Approach Affect Students Writing Skills in Terms of Content, Organization and Language Use at SMP Muhammadiyah 1 Makassar?”. Related to the above research question, the aim of the research is to find out whether Genre Based Approach (GBA) has an effect on the students.

Practically, the research should be a reference for finding an approach or appropriate teaching methods in teaching the skill of writing. The scope of this research is limited to determine the effect of genre-based approach on students' writing skill in terms of content, organization and language use at SMP Muhammadiyah 1 Makassar.

The similarity in the research is that the researchers find out the learning strategies that are used genre-based approach in the teaching learning process. The disparity in the research in the first research conducted research on engineering students', the second using genre-based approach as a writing instruction on the expository essays, and the last focuses on improving students' speaking skills. As one of the language skills in English, writing is used to express the student's ideas, opinions or comments, which are conveyed in the written form.

Organization of the writing is that the writer focuses on how to arrange and organize the ideas chronologically. A good description is like a "word picture", the reader can picture the object, place or person in his or her mind. The supporting sentences that follow the topic sentences should develop the main idea of ​​the paragraph.

When the writer writes a concluding sentence, you can phrase the topic sentences in different words or summarize some of the main points in the paragraph. It shows renumbering text using a four-stage genre-based approach (GBA). 1) Building knowledge of the field, in this phase the researcher starts from the presentation of the social input.

The pre-test looked at the students' past writing skills before implementing the Genre-Based Approach in treatment. During the last meeting after the treatment, the researcher conducted a post-test to determine the writing skills of the students. The result of the data analysis via the writer's test shows that the writing skills of the students have improved considerably.

The variable content of students' ability to write the recount text has improved from pre-test to post-test. The variable organization of students' ability to write the recount text improved from pre-test to post-test. The variable language use of students' ability to write recount text improved from pre-test to post-test.

The improvement can be seen after testing the students, where the mean score of language use in the pre-test was = 41. The genre-based approach affects the students' writing of repetitive text in terms of content, organization and language use. This proves that the average grade of students' written re-text in terms of content in the posttest (80) is higher than the average grade of students in the pretest (56), the progress is 42.86%.

The average score of the students' written re-text according to the organization in the posttest (64) is higher than the average score of the students in the pretest (53), the progress is 20.75%. Following the researcher's guide, the students come together and get a product of retelling the text in the form of a discussion.

For analysis, t-test is used to determine the significant difference between students' pre-test and post-test scores. It showed that there was a significant difference between the score of students' ability to write content, organize and use language after treatment. The improvement can be seen after the students were tested, where the average content score in the pretest was = 56.

The improvement can be seen after testing the students' where the average score of the organization in pre-test was = 53. Increasing the Students' Writing Ability Through Sending a Problem Method at the Eighth Grade of SMP Unismuh Makassar. The students' assignment is about telling text individually with the theme Good experience or Bad experience.

The Effect of a Genre-Based Approach to Teaching Writing on Al-Azhr Middle School EFL Students' Writing Skills and Their Attitudes toward Writing. Enhancing students' writing skills through a genre-based approach in grade XI/S3 SMAN 1 Pleret. Students are asked to share experiences through class discussion, starting with the researcher's case in advance. The researcher encourages the students to collaborate and produce the best product, and the discussion and inquiry techniques that keep the students in search of their own ideas.

Students find ideas themselves, organize ideas and generate ideas with good steps in the writing process (constructing ideas, drafting, conferencing, editing and publishing). The researcher gives students homework to create a procedural text with a group and closes the class. Students observe or ask about the grammatical pattern and some examples of narrative and descriptive text.

Students come together and give them the product of narrative and descriptive text in the form of discussion. Students observe or ask about the grammar pattern and some examples of report text and explanation text.
