Kota Bandung sebagai ibu kota Jawa Barat mengemban fungsi pusat pemerintahan yang tidak hanya memerlukan fasilitas pemerintahan kota tetapi juga fasilitas pemerintahan provinsi. Badan Perencanaan Pembangunan Daerah atau BAPPEDA merupakan badan pelaksana fungsi penunjang urusan pemerintahan bidang perencanaan dan pengembangan yang dipimpin oleh Kepala Badan Perencanaan Pembangunan Daerah yang berkedudukan di bawah Gubernur dan bertanggung jawab kepada Bupati melalui Sekretaris Daerah.
Untuk menunjang urusan pemerintahan pada kantor BAPPEDA, memerlukan bangunan yang layak dan dilengkapi dengan fasilitas yang baik. Sehingga penerapan tema yang ditekankan pada gedung kantor BAPPEDA ini adalah gaya Arsitektur Modern dengan bentuk yang mengikuti fungsi (form follows function) serta 5 prinsip arsitektur modern. Pemilihan tema ini disesuaikan dengan perancangan gedung pemerintahan kantor BAPPEDA yang membutuhkan desain bangunan sederhana, berhubungan langsung dengan lingkungannya serta bentuk bangunanan yang menyesuaikan dengan fungsi setiap ruangan di kantor Badan Perencanaan Pembangunan Daerah.
Perancangan Gedung Kantor BAPPEDA dengan pendekatan Arsitektur Modern di Kota Bandung dapat memenuhi kekurangan yang ada pada gedung kantor saat ini. Konsep yang diterapkan sesuai prinsipnya yaitu pilotis, peletakan jendela horizontal, desain bebas pada fasad, open plan, dan menggunakan roof garden.
Hal ini dilakukan agar bangunan gedung kantor mengikuti perkembangan tren saat ini dengan karakteristik desain yang modern.

Bandung as the capital of West Java has a central government function that not only requires city government facilities but also provincial government facilities.
The Regional Development Planning Agency or BAPPEDA is the implementing body supporting the functions of government affairs in the field of planning and development which is led by the Head of the Regional Development Planning Agency which is located under the Governor and is responsible to the Regent through the Regional Secretary.
To support government affairs in the BAPPEDA office, it requires a proper building and is equipped with good facilities. So that the application of the theme emphasized in the BAPPEDA office building is the Modern Architecture style with a form that follows the function (form follows function) and 5 principles of modern architecture. The selection of this theme was adjusted to the design of the BAPPEDA office government building that needed a simple building design, related directly to the environment and the shape of the buildings that adapted to the function of each room in the Regional Development Planning Agency office.
Design of BAPPEDA Office Building with Modern Architecture approach in Bandung City can meet the existing shortcomings in the current office building.
Concepts are applied according to its principles namely pilotis, horizontal window laying, free design on the facade, open plan, and using a roof garden.
This is so that office buildings keep abreast of current trends with modern design characteristics.
