This research aimed at finding out the improvement of the students’ writing skill in narrative paragraph Using Cartoon Characters at the Eight grade of SMP 3 Takalar.

The method of this research was a Classroom Action Research that consisted of two cycles. One cycle consisted of four meetings. It means that there were eight meetings for two cycles. The instrument of the research was observation and writing test indicated that the students have high score in writing achievement. The subject of this research was the eighth grade student class inSMP 3 Takalar academic years2013-2014by Cartoon Characters as media teaching. It consisted of 25 students.

The findings of this research indicated that the improvement of the students’

in writing narrative paragraph through Cartoon Characters and the students’

participation in teaching and learning process. The means scores in diagnostic test was 40.73become 58.33in first cycle, and after revision in the second cycle the mean score in the second cycle was77.9.The improvement of students’ ability viewed from content and mechanic through Cartoon Characters was presenting narrative paragraph material at Class VIII of SMP 3 Takalar, improved the students’ ability significantly.

The mean score of content and mechanics in the cycle was greater than the mean score of test in the first cycle (77,9>58,33). The researcher findings indicated that use Cartoon Characters could increase of students’ ability in terms of content and mechanics. It means that the researcher could achieve the target be come 7. This researcher indicated of cartoon characters can make the students more active and anthusiast in the learnig process and improve the students’ writing ability
