Putri, Mila Amaliah Putri. 2222. Konflik Batin Tokoh Selma Karamy Pada Novel “Sayap-Sayap Patah” Karya Kahlil Gibran : Analisis Psikologi Sastra.

Program Studi Bahasa dan Sastra Arab. Fakultas Ushuludin, Adab dan Humaniora. Universitas Kiayi Haji Achmad Siddiq Jember. Dosen Pembimbing Dr. Maskud, S.Ag, M.Si.

Novel “Sayap-Sayap Patah” karya Kahlil Gibran, di dalamnya menceritakan tentang seorang wanita Timur yang mempunyai hati suci dan berwawasan modern yang mencintai seorang pria baik dan berbudi pekerti. Tetepi ia harus meneguk pahitnya adat yang dijodohhkan dengan pendeta yang berhati buruk.

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan bentuk, faktor dan akibat konflik batin pada tokoh Selma Karamy dalam novel “Sayap-Sayap Patah” karya Kahlil Gibram.

Penelitian ini menggunakan teknik kualitatif. Jenis penelitian yang diambil adalah penelitian pustaka. Sumber penelitian ini adalah novel “Sayap-Sayap Patah” karya Kahlil Gibran. Data diperoleh dengan teknik baca catat. Keabsahan data diperoleh dari pemeriksaan sejawat melalui diskusi. Menggunakan pendekatan psikologi sastra.

Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa: (1) bentuk konflik batin yang dialami tokoh Selma Karamy pada novel “Sayap-Sayap Patah” karya Kahlil Gibran meliputi approach-approach conflict, approach-avoidance conflict, avoidance-avoidance conflict, dan multiple approach avoidance conflit; (2) faktor yang yang mempengaruhi ada dua, yakni; faktor personal dan faktor situasional.

Faktor personal dipengaruhi motif biologi dan motif cinta, sedangkan faktor situasional dipengaruhi oleh faktor sosial dan faktor situasi, (3) akibat yang dialami oleh tokoh Selma Karamy adalah kemarahan, kekecewaan, putus asa, dan khawatir.

One of the phenomena that occur in human life is mental problems. The problem occurs because human needs are fulfilled from within the individual it’self and outside the individual. Unmet needs lead to inner conflict. This is similar to what happened to the character Selma Karamy in the novel The Broken Wings by Kahlil Gibran.

Based on the above background, the problems that will be discussed in this thesis are (1) the forms of inner conflict experienced by the character Selma Karamy in the novel The Broken Wings by Kahlil Gibran, (2) the factors that influence the inner conflict by the character Selma Karamy in the novel The Broken Wings by Kahlil Gibran, (3) the consequences of the inner conflict experienced by the character Selma Karamy in the novel The Broken Wings by Kahlil Gibran. The purpose of this study is to describe the forms of inner conflict, the factors that cause inner conflict, and the consequences of the inner conflict experienced by the character Selma Karamy in the novel The Broken Wings by Kahlil Gibran.

This study uses a qualitative technique. While the type of research taken is library research. The source of the research was obtained from the novel "The Broken Wings" by Kahlil Gibran by using reading and note-taking techniques.

The validity of the data was obtained from peer examination through discussion.

Using a literary psychology approach.

The results of this study indicate that the form of inner conflict experienced by Selma Karamy's character in the novel The Broken Wings by Kahlil Gibran includes approach-approach conflict, approach-avoidance conflict, avoidance-avoidance conflict, and multiple approach avoidance conflict.

Meanwhile, there are two influencing factors, that is personal factors and situational factors. Personal factors are influenced by biological motives and love motives, while situational factors are influenced by social factors and situational factors. The consequences experienced by the character Selma Karamy are anger, disappointment, despair, and worry.
