Alhamdulillahirabbil'alamin, all praise be to Allah SWT, the Lord of this universe, for his mercy and blessing upon the writer in completing this titled thesis. 34; An analysis of teachers' strategies in improving students' speaking skills in SMAN 1 Pringgarata in the academic year.

This thesis has been prepared or created in order to fulfill a requirement to obtain the Sarjana Degree of Education in the English Language Department of the Islamic State University of (UIN) Mataram. University of Mataram, for giving permission and approval to conduct this undergraduate thesis. The director and English teachers of SMAN 1 Pringgarata authorized researchers to conduct research in their schools and took the time to provide the data the researchers needed.

Then the teachers must understand each character of their students, which makes it easier for both the teachers and students to transmit and receive the learning material. The teachers are responsible for paying attention to students and understanding the characteristics of each student, which are definitely different. Based on the data observation done by the researcher, most of the students have lack of learning habits and confidence when the teachers ask them to come forward to speak and lack of discipline in the learning process, which is a decisive factor is what hinders their learning system.

One of the biggest problems teachers face in teaching English is that students have nothing to say, no opinion, and no preparation to discuss something. From the difficulties that teachers encounter, they must overcome the obstacle with suitable and exciting strategies for the learning process of students. However, it is a natural part of the process of learning to speak and teachers should provide them with fluency and accuracy to correct them.

In teaching-learning, teachers should create and maintain a fun atmosphere and condition learning activities to make students active and comfortable with the classroom environment. Based on the data from the observation conducted by the researcher found that teachers have a role to help develop student achievement in the learning process with creative activities in the classroom, such as interaction between teachers and students, students and students and tablemates, which are. The teaching-learning process is influenced by the relationship between teachers and students to actively participate in the development of communication in the classroom activity.

In addition, the teachers' strategies are critical to improve student learning, especially when teaching English subjects, to know how to learn and improve their ability to learn to speak. On the other hand, the teachers should provide or teach theory as well as knowledge of the language and how students can easily accept and understand the teacher's material. Based on the data from observation and interviews, the researcher found that most of the English teachers at this school said that students have many difficulties in learning a foreign language.

The obstacles faced by teachers‟ in improving s tudents‟

According to the above theory of Karwati, the same as happened in the study of Mr. pronunciations in eight semester students of the English Department of IAIN in Bukittinggi, (Master's thesis, Faculty of Tarbiyah IAIN Bukittinggi, 2018), p.12. In addition, some students in the speaking class lack confidence, as Nunan's statement in Putras's research thesis stated that students who lack confidence would have difficulty communicating in English.157.

Based on the theory of Nunan, this is the same as what happened in SMAN 1. Pringgarata found that some students still have less confidence in explaining the speaking material due to a lack of study habits. As a result, they lack vocabulary mastery to speak fluently to explain something related to the topic in the English language. The teachers' strategies to overcome the obstacles in improving students' speaking ability at SMAN 1 Pringgarata in the academic year.

The strategies to overcome the obstacles which by the teachers are beneficial to make learning effective in the teaching-learning process. Motivation is the crucial thing that teachers must do for students before they start teaching-learning in the field of education. 97. helped and guaranteed to have a bright future, at least, specifically opportunities in the field of education.

The teachers and parents should always strive to build students' motivation to direct and control both in the classroom and outside of school, which is an exciting way to capture their attention and develop their enthusiasm in the learning process . Moreover, accuracy refers to Brown's statement in Putri's research thesis stating that accuracy is the set ability to produce the right sentence in the form of providing such communicative tasks and activities in the form of conversation, debate, role play and games . such activities can engage the learners in the natural to produce correct grammar, sentences and vocabulary.162. The teachers should give students time to talk more than teachers and give students a chance to speak by using group work and pair work which is a great way to plan and coordinate class activities to increase the number of students speaking opportunities to increase .

In this case, there are no rules regarding how often group or pair work should be implemented in the classroom. Based on Harmer's theory, it is the same as what happened in this school, which found that teachers use group work and pair work techniques to improve by engaging students to be more active in the process. of learning, significantly increasing the effectiveness of the process of learning to speak. Based on Puspitasar's theory, it is the same thing as what happened in this school.

SUGGESTION

Do teachers implement role play strategies in each meeting to improve students' speaking skills. Have teachers brainstorm a strategy to start a speaking class at each meeting. Do the students feel happy and comfortable in the learning activity using the strategies implemented by the teachers.

Is the non-English environment one of the main obstacles for teachers to improve students' speaking ability.
