What are the difficulties faced by English teachers in doing online assessment in teaching English during pandemics in SMPN 4 Bantimurung.

In Table 7 above, it appears that most of the teachers stated that it is difficult to assess students' response and activity while doing online assessment. After doing analysis of the data, the researcher could know the difficulties of the teachers and implementation of online assessment.

REVIEW OF RELATED LITERATURE

It is necessary to keep track of communication skills, analyze group work, evaluate each individual and the whole group and provide feedback. Some instructors are new to technology and most are using online assessment for the first time.

The researcher conducted the questionnaire by giving the questionnaire sheet directly to the English teacher and gave 20 minutes to complete the questionnaire.

Data Analysis

There are seven questions in the interview that explain the online assessment and teachers' problems. The result of the first question about “is it something new that implements online assessment?”, the teachers have positive and negative responses about online assessment. The teachers have a number of teaching and learning goals when applying online testing in every teaching-learning process.

The result found that all the teachers do not use varied online assessment such as, google form, quiz, google docs, instagram, etc. ). Meanwhile, all the teachers not only feel benefit from the online assessment, but the teachers also get the disadvantage of doing online assessment.

Some of the teachers complain that the online assessment application needs more quotes or good signal. The result of the teacher's challenge during online assessment is the teacher is confused when checking the validity of the students' assignment and exam. The most effective strategy to combat the Covid-19 pandemic is to use technology to do online assessment. As a result, teachers will have a handicap throughout the online assessment. To overcome this problem, the teacher usually makes a video call or calls the students to the school to discuss. Other difficulties experienced by teachers are difficult to do online assessment, because many students outside the class do not attend the class, it is difficult for the teacher to assess the cognitive assessment of the students.

On the other hand, some teachers in the data obtained stated that the students' motivation to do the online assessment is fluctuating. Sometimes students have high motivation in online assessment, sometimes students also have low motivation to do online assessment. 2020). CONCLUSION AND SUGGESTION

In this case, the researcher interviewed English teachers because the researcher intended to get in-depth information about what are the problems of English teachers in online assessment when teachers do it. Table 3 above shows that mostly teachers used WhatsApp and Google Classroom as online assessment platform which are very easy to use. Table 6 above shows that three out of four teachers think that designing an online assessment is easy for them, and then one stated that it is.

From the data of question number two "What difficulties have you encountered in implementing the online assessment?" most of the teachers said that they find it difficult to use the online application to assess the students, they only use whatsapp and google classroom they are not familiar with zoom, google form etc. assessment in English learning during the pandemic and the implementation of online assessment by interview and questionnaire. Also some teachers unfamiliar with technology because some of them are already old, so teachers used easier technology in designing online assessment like WhatsApp and Google Classroom.

Online assessment is also more flexible, it can be done anywhere and anytime according to the schedule. Implementation of online assessment is the second problem statement in this research and the researcher concluded that the teachers focus on the assessment of students' cognitive and not the implementation of variety online assessment, the teachers cannot maximize the assessment while they English not teaching.

Suggestions

Nowadays, technology has developed rapidly, so all teachers need to master technology, especially online learning and online assessment. Both traditional and online assessments are good applications for assessing students' knowledge and skills, depending on the situation.
