ABSTRACK
Kusuma Mawarti, Ria. 2016 an annalysis denotative and connotative meaning in Christina Georgina Rossetti’s poem. Thesis, English Education Department, Tarbiyah, State Islamic Collage of Ponorogo, Advisor Drs. H. Dolar Yuwono, M.Pd.
Key Word : Denotative, Connotative, Poem
The words of language have two kinds of meanings: denotation, and connotation. One of the literary works that uses connotative and denotative is poem. Poem is used to teach language and literature at the beginning school to the end. Actually to make and understand the poem more difficult than other literature. The researcher chooses Christina Georgina Ressetti’s poem as the object of research.
The statement of the problem in this research is: (1) to find the meaning of denotative expression in Christina Georgina Ressetti’s poem, (2) to find the meaning of denotative expression in Christina Georgina Ressetti’s poem, (3) to find the most dominant meaning used in Christina Georgina Ressetti’s poem.
The research methodology in this research was descriptive qualitative research. It was library research sience data source was literarary data. In this research, the main of data was taken by Christina Rossetti’s poem. Data were collected through documentation and observation. In this research, researcher using to analyze the data.
The result showed that Christina G rossetti’s poem had was 108 denotative meanings and connotative meaning,that consist of 59 denotative meaning and 49 connotative meaning.
In tens poem of Christina G Rossetti the researcher concludes that the dominant meaning used is denotative mening. Christina G Rossetti makes poem with easy language but has deep meaning. His poems have deep meaning but easy to understand.
