CONCLUSION AND SUGGESTION
A. Conclusion
Based on the research that has been done, the results show that there are 67 total data. For the types of idioms according to Fernando's theory (1996), there are 3 out of the 3 types of idioms. They are pure idioms (34 data), semi idioms (15 data), and literal idioms (18 data). Of the three, pure idiom is the most common type of idioms found in The Great Gatsby (34 out of 67 total data). Meanwhile, for the idiom translation strategies referring to Baker's theory (2018), there are 5 out of the 6 strategies. They are using an idiom of similar meaning and form (13 data), using an idiom of similar meaning but dissimilar form (2 data), translation by paraphrase (38 data), translation by omission of a play on idiom (5 data), and translation by omission of entire idiom (1 datum). No data found for the strategy of borrowing the source language idiom, but there is another strategy found which is the old version of Baker’s theory (1992) namely literal translation (8 data). Of all the strategies, translation by paraphrase is the most used strategy by the translator in rendering the idioms in the novel (38 out of 67 total data). The findings also show that there are 15 data where the translator renders the English idioms using Indonesian idioms. And of the three types of idioms (5 pure idioms, 1 semi idiom, and 9 literal idioms), the translator tends to be faithful because she uses the same type of idioms for the TL in rendering the idioms in SL.
Through this study, the researcher came to know that translating a literary work such as a novel is not an easy task. Especially in sentences with certain contexts, translators need to have awareness of the existence of an idiom, then find out what the true meaning of the idiom is. Besides, idioms contain messages that are difficult to guess because they often have a different meaning from the literal words. Translators should know which strategy is appropriate to use to render every idiom in order to produce proper translation

results for readers in the target language without causing misunderstandings or loss of meaning. Translating idioms is indeed difficult, but also interesting because translators can always learn new things so as to broaden their knowledge of the language. Hence, translators have a very important role in bridging communication between two different cultures and languages.
B. Suggestion
Based on the conclusions made above, the researcher provides several suggestions as follows:
1. It is necessary to find and read some previous studies related to the topic of idioms and their translation strategies to get an idea of what the research will be like.
2. For future researchers who are interested in discussing idiomatic expressions and their translation strategies, hopefully this research can be a helpful reference for finding topics that can be explored further.
