Integrated Computational Engineering

An illustration of the ease with which Data Science can be integrated into computer engineering can be witnessed in the National Supercomputing Mission project at GOKUL, which faces challenges at every level of designing a powerful energy conversion system. wind and tries to solve it using Deep Learning ( Fig. 1). The advantage of integrating Data Science with Computer Engineering is such that it allows a smooth transition of research in the laboratory to product in industry.

Development and application of computational models for modelling particulate flows

While each of these areas are computationally intensive with up to NP-hard complexities, the ideas of Data Science enable a real-time solution that provides a unique perspective that offers multiple degrees of freedom to solve the problem intelligently. At GOKUL, we walk the path of a Computational Chemical Engineer empowered with data science prowess to explore new frontiers in process systems engineering.

A new perspective on the law of the wall

The mixing instability hypothesis revealed an unprecedented connection between the law of the wall and the mixing instability. More generally, the mixing instability hypothesis explains the law of the wall in near walls, overlap and wake layers.

Research & Innovations - Q4 Preserving ‘Dhokra Craft’,

In essence, the mixing instability hypothesis offers a new mechanism for the momentum exchange in a turbulent flow that requires a revision of the traditional mixing length hypothesis, which has persisted in standard textbooks on turbulence for about nine decades. In particular, the amplitude of waves within the overlap layer was found to obey a unique law with the wall-normal distance. Careful testing of the computational MVPs with the experimental observations over a wide range of Reynolds numbers supports the hypothesis of mixing instability (see Fig. 2).

Bins are stacked vertically in a grid and retrieved by robots that move on the top layer of the system. The goal of one-on-one mentoring is to provide the right guidance and advice from an expert who understands the ins and outs of building and running a scalable business. Dhruv Gupta The workshop aimed to understand how to build a scalable and robust business.

The interactive session was beneficial for early-stage startups as they learned how to prioritize tasks and divide them into departments to avoid costly mistakes and firefighting. The workshop was aimed at understanding the Business Model Canvas (BMC) - a strategic management tool for quickly and easily defining and communicating a business idea or concept. It allows startups to understand the business and go through the process of connecting between what their idea is and how to turn it into a business.

This case study was about the journey and learnings of how Goli Vada Pav started.

Highlights

An orientation has been organized by the Principal, Deans, Heads and Faculties in-charge of various wings at IIT Hyderabad to know the news in vibrant colors of the campus. Priyabrata Rautray, PhD Scholar, Department of Design represented Bio-Bricks #IITHyderabad at a national level Conference-cum-Expo on New Urban India: Transforming Urban Landscape as part of Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsava (AKAM) to commemorate 75 years of India's independence in Lucknow under the clear call of. Hon'ble Prime Minister's AatmaNirbharBharat organized by Ministry of Housing and Urban Development (MHUA).

As part of India's National Supercomputing Mission (NSM) under the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India, the Indigenous Open Source Repository of Phase-Field Codes - MicroSim 1.0.2 has been released for public domain use. To create awareness about pollution prevention, IIT Hyderabad organized a painting competition for IITHians to observe National Pollution Control Day 2021 and awarded the winners for the out-of-the-box thought process. The faculty, staff and students participated virtually in this event and also celebrated the day with a mass reading of the Preamble.

The check post is equipped with biometric scanning of employees and students and RFID tagging so that the institute's vehicle can be scheduled soon. The IIT Hyderabad Women's Association has donated clothes to Asha Kuteer Homes, an orphanage and old age home in the city. IIT Hyderabad organized the Fit India Freedom Run 2.0 in August on the occasion of the celebration of India's 75 years of Independence - Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav with the theme Fitness ki Dose - Adha Gantha Roz.

Glimpses of JAPAN DAY 2021 #IITHyderabad in association with #JICA & #JETRO

Residents of IITH celebrated Christmas in full spirit to spread the message of love and joy among humanity. The collection showcased in the exhibition is part of ongoing research by Professor Deepak J Mathew and Ankana Sen of the Department of Design, IIT Hyderabad. IITHyderabad has renovated the Institute Datacenter (IDC) to facilitate hosting of additional servers/clusters by adding 633 trillion FLOPS computing power to the existing capacity, providing wide opportunities for faculty and students in carrying out their research activities.

The Center for Rural Development and Unnat Bharat Abhiyan at IIT Hyderabad jointly organized the National Farmers Day. 61 mattresses and some pillows to Mahima Ministries Orphans & Oldage Home on December 6, 2021 on behalf of the IIT Hyderabad community. These were collected from the rooms of our graduates after they were vacated.

Such a kind act would not have been possible without the assistance and support of IITH authorities and the student community. We would like to thank the students who were part of this donation for their kind gesture. IIT Hyderabad observed the day by administering the Rashtriya Ekta Diwas Pledge (National Unity Day).

Mathematics Prof Madhavan obtained a PhD from the University of Alabama at Birmingham in the United States and a master's degree from the National University of Singapore in Singapore. He worked as a Structural Engineer at Alabama Power Company in Birmingham before joining IIT Hyderabad and is a Registered Professional Engineer (PE) in the state of Alabama, USA. Madhavan's main research areas include physical testing of structural elements and systems, numerical modeling using commercially available finite element software, and the development of innovative design approaches for steel-intensive structures.

He is the only Indian to be a member of "Structural Engineering Institute (SEI), American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE)", "ASCE SEI Cold Formed Steel Members Committee" and "ASCE Technical Administrative Committee on Metals" He is a member of the Editorial Board of the Journal of Structures and an associate editor for the ASCE Journal of Structural Engineering. heads the structural steel research group at IITH, all to enable sustainable construction practices in India and around the world.

This conference focused on the theme of sustainability and the challenges faced by researchers, industry professionals and policy makers in the implementation of sustainable steel construction techniques in India. The online classes were conducted very smoothly without any problems and the students responded well as they are now used to online teaching. Our director's emphasis on bringing more and more facilities to campus residents is commendable.

IITH's Bank of Knowledge

With research laboratories operating without restrictions, research work has proceeded unhindered, as have all other general administrative activities. Also, our Director's vision of adding more greenery to our campus as soon as he took charge is now showing results and as a result the campus is becoming more inclusive with the arrival of various species of birds doing so.
