In another experiment, 15 varieties of exotic gerbera were evaluated under low-cost polyhouse for growth and flowering characteristics and found that Alesmera performed better. Bio-rational management of major pests of ginger Different botanical pesticides and entomopathogens were evaluated against major pests of ginger in Meghalaya.
Plant Pathology
Considering the enormous production of weed biomass of various species; A trial was conducted for conversion of such weed biomass into quality fertilizer through vermicomposting. The prepared types of vermicompost were used for the cultivation of maize crops to study their effect on the yield and yield properties of maize (RCM 76). The reference evapotranspiration (ETo) was calculated using the most accepted Penman-Monteith formula using CROPWAT 8.0. The average monthly ETo ranged from 1.92 mm/day in December to 4.02 mm/day in April with an average value of 2.89 mm/day.
SOCIAL SCINECES
For the country as a whole, milk production from indigenous cows in winter was 497 tonnes lower than seasonal average production and peaked during monsoon, which was 543 tonnes higher than average. Milk production of crossbred cows was 631 tonnes lower than average in winter and peaked in monsoon which was 560 tonnes higher than average. Duck eggs in winter were 32 thousand numbers below average and peaked during monsoon which was 28 thousand numbers above average.
For overall condition, beef production was highest during the winter with 32 tons more production than the average over the seasons. Pork (pork) production was also highest during the winter with 108 tonnes more production than the seasonal average.
ANIMAL SCIENCES
The seasonality of mean temperature in Meghalaya also showed the maximum temperature during the monsoon season (2.6°C higher than the seasonal mean) and the lowest in winter (4.05°C lower than the seasonal mean ). A comparative study was conducted to investigate the effect of silage feeding on the productive performance of Tharparkar cross cattle in terms of milk fat, density, lactose, SNF, protein and salinity. Three HF cross bulls have been trained for semen collection on the institute's dairy farm.
Genetic variability and phylogenetic analysis of the isolates was done based on the ORF2 fragment. Instead, these four isolates clustered into a new cluster with a separate branch located between PCV2a and PCV2b, along with two previously reported Indian recombinant isolates. Prevalence of CSF genogroup 2.2 was observed and detailed molecular epidemiology using E-2 and 5' NTR sequences was performed.
