Exhibition of Manuscripts
On the account of CHRIST Literary Festival 2020, the Department of Languages had put up a stall to exhibit the ancient manuscripts. The language department in association with B.M.Sri Prathistana, N.R. Colony, Bengaluru had set up a stall in CHRIST (Deemed to be university) Main campus on 28th February near Main Block. The stall was inaugurated at 9.00am by the Deans of School of Arts and Humanities Dr.John Joseph Kennedy and Dean of Social Sciences Dr. Tony Sam George, Dr. Vageshwari along with the coordinator Dr. Shivaprasad.Y S The stall contained a wide range of manuscripts dated from 14th century to 18th century. Some of the manuscripts displayed were from periods of Krishnadevaraya’s manuscripts, Sarvagna, Tripadi, Kalagnani Vachanas, Palm readings, Ramayana, Mahabharata and Bhagavatha written in Kannada language were exhibited. Mr.Gurumurthy from B.M.Sri Prathistana explained the process of preserving, cleaning, collecting and maintaining the manuscripts through visual aid. Most of the students were excited to join the course on manuscripts and a few of them also got their names registered at Prathistana. All the members who were a part of university visited the stall and took the maximum benefits from the stall. Students of our university had a great opportunity to witness the exposure of manuscripts, this also helped people to understand the culture and traditions of India and to look upon the differences in the tradition and culture from the king’s period till today. The books which were exhibited portrayed the rich heritage of our ancient India. The event which was coordinated by Dr.Shivaprasad Y S associated with B.M.Sri Pratistana was an informative and a successful one.
