About the Seminar
Four decades ago, a unique approach namely Subaltern Studies emerged in the field of Social Sciences. Rejecting the existing approaches that throw light only on the upper and elite sections of the society and ignore the marginalities, the approach attempts to listen to the unheard voices and rewrite history for the Other - the subaltern - in terms of class, caste, gender, race, language and culture.
The Subaltern Studies Group aims to focus on the working class and particularly on
“peasant” historical accounts in post-colonial and post-imperial South Asia and India.
Reflections on subaltern studies in the society, specially in India, has also become visible and functioning and has generated considerable critical enquiry.
After four decades, Subaltern Studies has gained both acceptability and criticism.
Criticisms against subaltern studies from inside and outside create more curiosity about it. This seminar aims to explore the complex debates around the subaltern thought through academic deliberation.

Researchers, faculty, students, authors are invited to submit their original and
unpublished research works. The accepted and presented abstracts will
be published in Conference E- Proceedings.
Abstract of Paper Submission:
Authors are requested to submit their abstracts via e-mail as .doc attachments

Guidelines for Abstract Submission:
Abstracts in English must be typed in Book Antiqua font with 12 font size and 1.15 line spacing (MS word only).
Abstracts in Bengali must be typed in AVRA Software in Kalpurush font with 12 font size and 1.15 line spacing. The word limit is 250 words. The abstract shall contain title, author/s’s full name,
affiliation, e-mail ID and mobile number (preferably WhatsApp).
Presentation of Paper:
There will be oral presentations of 10 minutes duration for each paper.
