The Kondo model is one of the most useful and successful models in describing the properties of the magnetically doped metals. The properties of this model are known up to the third order of perturbation theory, whereas it has been shown that the electrons become strongly correlated in the ground state and the system becomes non- perturbative. In this thesis we firstly study and describe the model up to third order perturbation theory. Since many of the interesting properties of the model are in the strong coupling regime, we turn to the non-perturbative methods for this model in the second part of the thesis. One of these methods is the conformal field theory for which considerable portion of the thesis has been devoted. One of the properties of these strongly correlated systems is the non-Fermi liquid behaviors which is perceptible in terms of the conformal field theories. In this thesis, after studying the conformal field theory, we review the predictions of the conformal field theory concerning this system and describe its non-Fermi liquid behaviors.
