The Second Sino-Japanese War Reassessed
Organized by the Japan Institute of International Affairs
The Second Sino-Japanese War was the longest one fought by modern Japan. The war has casted a shadow on the issue of the recognition of history as well as Sino-Japanese relations.
A multifaceted understanding of this war based on historical fact is thus needed. With official archives having been opened by several authorities in recent years, progress is being made in reassessing the war from various perspectives that include its impact on the societies involved and the role of propaganda.
The Japan Institute of International Affairs will be hosting an online lecture meeting on the Second Sino-Japanese War with experts from Japan and Taiwan. This webinar will aim to reassess this war and paint a more comprehensive picture of it based on the latest scholarship.
