최근 5년간 흑산도의 가락지부착조사 현황

요 약 :다도해해상국립공원흑산도에서 2010년부터 2014년까지최근 5년간의가락지부착조사결과, 해당조사기간

중에 가락지를 부착한 조류는 총 194종 31,378개체였다. 조사기간 중 가락지부착 개체의 재포획은 7,505회였으며,

국외에서 발견되거나 국외에서 가락지가 부착된조류를 센터에서 발견한 기록은 총 10종 14개체였다. 가락지부착 우점종은촉새(13.9%), 동박새(9.0%), 흰배지빠귀(6.3%) 순이었다. 국립공원연구원철새연구센터의지속적인가락지부 착조사는흑산도에서관찰되는조류의연간변동을파악하여다도해해상국립공원의공원관리에필요한기초자료로활 용될수있도록하며, 철새들의이동경로에대한신뢰성있는자료를제공할수있도록할것이다.

Abstract :We banded a total of 194 species 31,378 individuals from 2010 to 2014 on Heuksan-do, Dadohaehaesang National Park. 7,505 individuals of them were recaptured, and 14 individuals of 10 species which have been banded abroad were recaptured in the study area. The dominant species were the Black-faced Bunting Emberiza spodocephala (13.9%), the Japanese White-eye Zosterops japonicus (9.0%), and the Pale Thrush Turdus pallidus (6.3%). Long-term data on bird banding can be used to understand the annual trends of birds and to manage national parks. Bird banding data would provide confident information on migratory routes and behaviors.

서 론

가락지부착조사(bird banding)는 야생 조류의 연구를 위하 여 날개나 다리에 개체 식별번호가 있는 금속 또는 플라스 틱 가락지를 부착하는 것으로(국립공원연구원 2007; 남현영 등 2014), 이후 재발견되었을 때 조류 생활사를 통해 생태 변화 및 자연보호를 위한 유용한 정보로 활용될 수 있다

(Lowe 1989). 또한, 조류 개체군의파악을통해 위협종에속

하는 조류를 인식하고, 이에 대한 환경 변화를 예측하는데 도움이 되며(Lowe 1989), 조류의 가장 필수적인 정보를 제 공해 준다(Clark et al. 2009).

과학적 목적으로 최초 가락지부착조사가 실시된 것은 1899년 덴마크의 Christian Mortensen이조류의발목에자신 의 이름과 주소가 기입된 가락지를 부착했던 것이 처음으로 (De Beer et al. 2001; Balmer et al. 2008), 유럽에서 세계 최초의 가락지부착조사 체계가 이루어진 해는 1903년이다 (De Beer et al. 2001).

우리나라는 1964년미 정부의원조에의해경희대학교조 류연구소에서 이동성조류질병연구(Migratory Animal Patho-

logical Survey)를 실시하면서 가락지부착조사가 시작되었다

(국립공원연구원 2007; Chae and Choi 2007). 이후 1993년 철새의 이동경로를 규명하고자 금속 및 유색 가락지부착조

사가실시되어 지금까지진행되고 있다(환경부 2014).

국립공원연구원철새연구센터는 2005년설립이후, 지속적 인 가락지부착조사를 실시하고 있으며(국립공원연구원 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014), 이는 해당 연구지역인 다도해해상 국립공원 흑산도에 도래하는 종 및 개체군의 크기와 연간 변동을 파악하고, 분류군의 종구성을 파악하는 데 중요한 자료로활용하고자실시하고 있다.

재료 및 방법 1. 조사지역 및 조사기간

다도해해상국립공원 흑산도(N 34^o 41', E 125^o 25')의 배 낭기미습지와 진리습지에서 조사를 수행하였다. 흑산도 배 낭기미습지와 진리습지는흑산도 북서쪽에 위치한 작은습 지로소형참새목뿐만아니라일부물새류도서식하는곳으 로(국립공원연구원 2010), 다양한 종의 새를 관찰할 수 있다.

조사기간은 2010년부터 2014년까지로, 매년 봄철(3월~5월) 과 가을철(8월 중순~11월) 새들의 이동시기를 중심으로 수 행되었다.

2. 조사방법

가락지부착조사를 위하여 조사지역의 습지 주변으로 30~

36 mm × 2.6m × 12m 크기의 조류 포획용 그물 16~18장을

설치하였다. 2010년의 경우, 일출 20분전부터 일몰 20분전 까지 조사를 실시하였으며, 2011년부터 2014년까지는 일출

20분전부터 정오 12시까지 조사를 실시하고, 필요한 경우

추가 조사를 실시하였다. 포획된 개체는 가락지를 부착한 후안전하게 방사하였으며, 필요에따라외부형태를측정하 여 기록하였다. 습지 주변에 그물을 설치하여 포획된 개체 외에도 흑산도 내에서 구조되어 치료와 보호 후, 가락지를 부착하여 방사한 개체도 가락지부착조사 목록에 포함하여 기록되었다.

분류및동정은한국조류목록(한국조류학회 2009)을 기준 으로작성하였으며, 한국조류목록에 기록되지 않은일부분 류군은 Dickinson (2003)을 참고하였다. 최근 새롭게 알려진 종에 대해서는 해당종에 대한 연구논문을 참고하여 작성하 였다.

결과 및 고찰 1. 가락지부착종

2010년부터 2014년까지 흑산도에서 가락지부착조사를 실

시한 결과, 총 194종 31,378개체에게 가락지를 부착하였다 (Appendix). 2010년도의 경우 128종 4,816개체, 2011년도 116 종 3,580개체, 2012년도 150종 11,269개체, 2013년도 126종 5,546개체, 2014년도에는 127종 6,167개체에게 가락지를 부 착하였다.

매년 참새목이 97% 이상으로 가장 많은 포획률을 보였으 며, 최근 5년간은 멧새과 포획률이 33.8%로 가장 높았다.

다음으로는 솔딱새과(13.2%), 휘파람새과(10.8%), 동박새과

(9.5%) 순이었다(Figure 1). 또한 가락지부착조사의우점종은

촉새 Emberiza spodocephala (13.9%)였으며, 다음으로는 동 박새 Zosterops japonicus (9.0%), 흰배지빠귀 Turdus pallidus (6.3%), 박새 Parus major (4.9%), 노랑턱멧새 Emberiza elegans (4.5%), 쑥새 Emberiza rustica (4.1%) 순이었다.

2010년도부터 2014년까지 매년가락지를 부착한종은총

78종으로 황새목 1과 2종, 도요목 1과 5종, 비둘기목 1과 1 종, 두견이목 1과 1종, 파랑새목 1과 2종, 딱다구리목 1과 1 종, 그리고 참새목이 15과 66종으로 나타났다. 반면, 최근 5 년간 단 한번의 포획기록이 있는 종은 총 32종이었다.

가락지부착종 중, 한국조류목록(한국조류학회 2009)에 기 록되지 않은 종으로 쇠덤불개개비 Iduna caligata가 있었다.

쇠덤불개개비는 2011년 9월 6일 전남흑산도배낭기미습지 에서 1개체가 포획되어, 국내에서는 기록이 없었던 종으로 해당 개체의 포획이 국내에서의 첫 기록으로 보고되었다(김 성진 등 2011). 본 종에 대하여 한국조류목록(한국조류학회 2009)에 게재되어 있지 않기 때문에 Dickinson (2003) 및 Fregin 등(2009)에 따라 Iduna속의 단형종으로 보고 기록하 였다(국립공원연구원 2011; 김성진 등 2011). 이후, 쇠덤불

개개비는 2013년 10월 강릉에서의관찰기록이있었다(박종

길 2014; 이우신 등 2014).

또한, 우수리개개비 Acrocephalus tangorum는 한국조류목 록(한국조류학회 2009)에서 “범주 마-현재 한국의 조류로 인 정되지 않는 종 또는 아종: 과거 공식 또는 비공식 경로를 통해보고되었거나 관찰하였다는 주장이 있으나 이를뒷받 침할만한충분한증거가없거나오동정가능성이있는경우 및 분류학적인 재검토가 필요한 경우”에 속해져 있는종으 로 철새연구센터에서는 2014년 9월 10일과 10월 11일에 2 개체를 포획 및 관찰하여 처음으로 가락지를 부착하였다.

이 외에도 가락지부착종인 큰개개비 Locustella pryeri는 1962년 서울 인근에서 1회 포획 기록이 있으며(Fennell and King 1964), 2014년 5월 16일 전남흑산도에서의기록이국 내 2번째기록으로 본종을큰개개비아종 Locustella pryeri sinensis로 보고하였다(Seo et al. 2015).

2. 법정보호종

조사기간중가락지를부착한종에서국내 보호종으로지 정된 조류는 문화재청 지정 천연기념물 10종과 환경부 지정 멸종위기조류 I급 1종, II급 12종이었다(Table 1). 포획된 국 내 보호종 중 큰덤불해오라기 Ixobrychus eurhythmus, 긴꼬 리딱새 Terpsiphone atrocaudata, 섬개개비 Locustella pleskei, 검은머리촉새 Emberiza aureola 4종은최근 5년간지속적으 로흑산도에서포획되었으며, 붉은해오라기 Gorsachius goisagi, 참매 Accipiter gentilis 2종은 흑산 인근 주민의 신고를 통해 구조되어 센터에서의 치료와 보호를 받은 후 방사전 가락지 를 부착했던 종이다.

법정보호종 중 철새연구센터 첫 가락지 부착종으로는 팔 색조 Pitta nympha가 있었으며, 이 개체는 2014년 8월 20일,

배낭기미습지에서포획되어 가락지부착후방사되었다. 팔

색조의경우, 2013년 8월 29일흑산도천촌마을에서충돌로

추정되는 사체를 발견하기도 하였으며, 흑산도 내 조류모니 터링을 통해 2013년 하반기와 2014년 상반기 관찰된 기록 이 있었다(국립공원연구원 2014). 팔색조는 우리나라에서는 제주도를 포함한 남부 도서지방 및 남부 내륙에서 드물게 번식한다고 알려져 있어(박종길 2014; 이우신 등 2014), 흑 산도내에서도 번식할가능성이 있을것으로추측된다. 3. 국외 재포획 기록

2010년부터 2014년까지 흑산도에서의 국외 가락지 회수

및 관찰 기록은 총 10종 14개체가 있었다(Table 2). 흑산도 에서 가락지를 부착하여 국외에서 재포획 및 재관찰된 기록

은 2종 2개체로바다직박구리 Monticola solitarius와 노랑턱 멧새 Emberiza elegans의 이동경로를 확인하였으며, 국외에 서 가락지를 부착한 개체가 흑산도에서 재포획 및 재발견한 기록은 8종 12개체로 대부분 일본에서 가락지를 부착한 개 체였다.

국외 재포획 기록 중, 바다직박구리는 2014년 8월 말 흑 산도에서 가락지를 부착한 개체로 약 한달 뒤인 9월 말 대

만에서재포획및 재관찰되었다. 이는 2008년 홍도에서가

락지를 부착한 개체가 약 한달 후에 대만에서 발견된 이후 (국립공원연구원 2011; Choi et al. 2011) 2번째 기록에 속한 다. 흑산도에서도 소수의 바다직박구리가 번식을 하고 있는 것으로 보이며(Choi et al. 2011), 바다직박구리의 2회 국외 재포획 기록은 국내의 번식 개체군의 일부가 번식지에서 월 동지로이동하기위해장거리이동의가능성이있을 것으로 사료된다(국립공원연구원 2011).

가락지부착개체의 재포획은 해당 개체의 이동경로를 밝히 는 중요한 자료일 뿐 아니라, 해당 종의 수명과 사망률을 추정할 수 있는 기초 자료로 사용되기도 한다(Redrern and

Clark 2001). 그렇기에 무엇보다도 재포획은 여러 국가와의

신뢰 관계및네트워크구축이필요할 것으로본다. 가락지 부착조사는 앞으로도 조류의 이동 생태와 서식지 분포, 도 래 현황을 파악하여 환경의 변화에 따라 어떻게 변화하고 진화하는지 이해할 수 있도록 기초적이고 필수적인 정보를 제공하게 될 것이다(Clark et al. 2009).

이러한 가락지부착조사는 국립공원내의 종과 개체군의 변 동을 파악하여 공원관리에 필요한 기초 자료로 활용될 수 있으며, 나아가 국가간의 철새 이동경로에 대한 신뢰성 있 는 자료를 제공할 수 있을 것이다. 우리는 이러한 정보를 통해 국립공원내의 조류에 대한 보전과 보호를 위하여 노력 해야 할 것이다.
