UniMAP Students In Campus Maintained at 100 Percent

Kangar, 26 August – All Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP) students living on campus will remain 100 percent with the completion of the Tun Abdul Razak Residential College (PFI 2).

UniMAP Vice Chancellor Dato’ Prof. Dr. Zul Azhar Zahid Jamal said the construction of PFI 2 will manage to accommodate up to 4,000 students especially those from Schools within the permanent campus.

“This would ensures all UniMAP students continue to reside within campus,”

he said in his speech at a thanksgiving ceremony in conjunction with the launch of the Tun Abdul Razak Residential College (PFI 2) located in the university's Main Campus earlier this morning.

He added that with 100 percent of students living on campus will save time and shorten travel time which previously took longer to reach various Schools and other UniMAP facilities.

The construction of PFI 2, also known as the Private Funding Initiative Residential College, began on 6 December 2013 and has 12 four-story blocks with 480 student homes including 16 homes for disabled students.

“According to early plans, we will accommodate new students from the 2016/2017 academic session who will register here on 28 August. But because of several factors, we had to alter the plans and move them to temporary accommodations at Bumita.

“This will ensure the best facilities will be ready at PFI 2 before receiving new students at the end of the year,” he said.

“Therefore I hope that this residential college will be well taken care of and maintained to be constantly pristine,” he added.
