Ladies and Gentlemen.

Alhamdulillah, first and foremost, I am most grateful to Allah, the most gracious and most merciful, for His blessings in giving us the opportunity to gather here for the Academic Talk by Mr. Peter Hoffmann. Let us give a round of applause to our distinguished speaker.

I feel highly delighted and deeply honored by Mr. Peter Hoffmann’s presence here today to share his ideas and knowledge about “Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency”.

Ladies and Gentleman,

Malaysia is blessed with many alternative sources of energy from renewable materials (renewable resources), such as forest waste products, oil palm biomass, solar energy, hydropower and biological wastes. They are potential resources to be mobilized for energy production and yet able to minimize environmental pollution.

So we need to take this opportunity to gain the knowledge to be shared with us this morning on how to maximize the use of

these sources of wealth as a way to generate energy. This is also in line with our government’s policy to provide energy from renewable sources by 5.5 percent by 2015.

I hope this forum will also provide a strong platform for us to share the knowledge, skills and experiences in Mr Peter Hofmann’s field of expertise. The input and knowledge that will be presented shortly could be used as a guide and a platform for the research scientists of UniMAP in enhancing their research on renewable resources.

Ladies and Gentlemen,

Lastly, I would like to express my sincere appreciation to the organizing committee, Sustainable Development Unit, and School of Mechatronic Engineering as well as other UniMAP departments for their commitment in making this event a reality. May God bless and reward you all for it.

I sincerely hope all of you will benefit from the talk by Mr Peter Hofmann, the Chief Executive Officer of Mega Global Technologies Sdn.Bhd.

Thank you very much and Wassalamualaikum Warahmatullahi Wabarakatuh.
