All of these indicate the need for broader views of human resources that link human capital to well-being. Existing reviews rarely guide us as to what form of human capital and well-being should best be represented in the literature. Third, we provide a comprehensive understanding of the existing theoretical arguments underlying the relationship between human capital and well-being.

Therefore, human capital development (formal training, workplace learning and task design) is crucial to avoid obsolescence and ensure optimization (Elias and Scarbrough, 2004). Human capital theory (HCT) explains the role of education and training as investments in individuals (Becker, 1964). The relationship between human capital and well-being has attracted attention from economists (Becker, 1964; Grossman, 1972).

The acquired human capital represents change-oriented psychological well-being to achieve a different outcome (Nunez and Prieto, 2019). An academic conference such as the International Conference on Human Capital (ICHC-2018) was held to encourage scholarly discussion[1]. First, studies that exclusively discussed human capital or well-being without relating one to the other were not considered.

Of the review articles, approximately 20% of the studies focused on individual human capital and well-being.
