GOD’S WORDS FOR TODAY (Mk. 7:24-30) The Holy Gospel according to St. Mark
And from there he arose and went away to the region of Tyre and Sidon. And he entered a house, and would not have any one know it; yet he could not be hid. But immediately a woman, whose little daughter was possessed by an unclean spirit, heard of him, and came and fell down at his feet. Now the woman was a Greek, a Syrophoenician by birth. And she begged him to cast the demon out of her daughter. And he said to her, "Let the children first be fed, for it is not right to take the children's bread and throw it to the dogs." But she answered him, "Yes, Lord; yet even the dogs under the table eat the children's crumbs." And he said to her, "For this saying you may go your way; the demon has left your daughter."
And she went home, and found the child lying in bed, and the demon gone.
REFLECTION:
Jesus praises a Gentile woman for her persistent faith and for her affectionate love. She made the misery of her child her own and she was willing to suffer rebuff in order to obtain healing for her loved one. She also had indomitable persistence.
Her faith grew in contact with the person of Jesus. She began with a request and she ended on her knees in worshipful prayer to the living God. No one who ever sought Jesus with faith - whether Jew or Gentile - was refused his help. Do you seek Jesus with expectant faith?
PRAYER:
Lord Jesus, increase my faith in your saving help and deliver me from all evil and harm. Amen.
Prayer of St. Gertrude
Eternal Father, I offer Thee the Most Precious Blood of Thy Divine Son, Jesus, in union with the masses said throughout the world today, for all the holy souls in purgatory, for sinners everywhere, for sinners in the universal church, those in my own home and within my family. Amen.

2 FROM THE OVCA – OFFICE OF THE INTEGRATED SCHOOL PRINCIPAL:
1.The ISP is currently conducting visits to both ESC-participating and applicant schools in Region IV-A and NCR. Mr.
Fred Amul will be the OIC of the day: Kindly accord to him your usual support. Thank you very much.
2. With sincere gratitude to God for the safety and security of all the members of our IS community despite the recent Taal Volcano activity, we once again welcome everyone's physical presence in the campus. Likewise, we would like to express our great appreciation and commendation for our community's manifestation of the spirit of faith, zeal for service, and communion in mission amidst the challenges brought about not only by the volcanic eruption but also by the 2019 Novel Coronavirus, or 2019-nCoV, a new respiratory virus first identified in Wuhan, Hubei Province, China.
Thus, we would like to enjoin everyone to read, understand, and follow the health advisories officially issued by De La Salle Lipa. Let us all be socially responsible to care for our own health and for the health of others by refraining from going to school if we are feverish, have been suffering from upper respiratory tract infection, have travel history from Chinese territory in the past two weeks, or suffering from any communicable diseases or illnesses that weaken our immune system. With our Canvas Learning Management System (for Grades 4-12) and the Brothers' Little Angels webpage (Pre-school to Grade 3), we are assured of up-to-date learning experiences that suit our current contexts and needs. Always prioritize your safety and security over anything else. Rest assured of the utmost compassion,
understanding, and support from your advisers, teachers, academic service personnel, administrators, and Christian Brothers.
Also, let us try to have a better understanding of the facts about Taal Volcano eruption and 2019 -nCoV, observe the necessary precautions and hygiene, have the prudence to identify fake news and information and avoid sharing them, coordinate with proper authorities for your concerns, ask questions to clarify confusions, take safety and security instructions and evacuation drills seriously, avoid panic, and be vigilant.
MISSION VISION
“Inspired by our faith in God, by our Catholic traditions and by the charism of St. John Baptist de La Salle educational innovator par excellence, we together and by association are committed to give quality human and Christian education to all building a
society founded on equity and justice and on sustainable and inclusive development. ”
3 As we have proven time and again, everything shall come to pass...even our worries and anxieties. In times like this, as we hope for the best and prepare for the worst, the best thing to do is to pray, hope, do not worry, and do the best that we can.
With the spirit of faith, service, and communion in mission, Lasallians Observing Values and Excellence will always be blessed.
Animo La Salle!
Live Jesus in our hearts...forever!

1. With the issuance of DepEd Memorandum No. 15 series of 2020, which includes the postponement of all national and regional activities involving learners and/or teachers for the month of February, please be informed that CALABARZON Heroes Games is moved to March 22-28, 2020.
2. Relative to this, the 95 CHG student-athlete qualifiers from our school will now be attending classes until further notice. As indicated in the Academic Guidelines for CHG athletes, the student-athletes will accomplish the activities/assessments on the lessons taken while they are not yet on pull out. However, since the 3rd QA schedule will fall on the expected pull out training, as discussed with some Subject Area Chairs last Friday, the athletes will no longer take the 3rd QA. This provision is also indicated in the academic guidelines.
3. For the record, the 3rd quarter grades of these athletes will be computed based on 70% Written Works/Oral Activities/Practical Test and 30% CAPSTONE Initiatives.
FROM THE INSTITUTIONAL HEALTH SERVICES:
2019 Novel Coronavirus
Coronaviruses (CoV) are a large family of viruses that cause illness ranging from the common cold to more severe diseases such as Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS-CoV) and Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS-CoV).
Coronaviruses are zoonotic, meaning they are transmitted between animals and people.
A novel coronavirus (nCoV) is a new strain that has not been previously identified in humans.
People of all ages can be infected by the new coronavirus (2019-nCoV). Older people, and people with pre-existing medical conditions (such as asthma, diabetes, heart disease) appear to be more vulnerable to becoming severely ill with the virus.
Common signs of infection include:
• respiratory symptoms,
• fever, cough,
• shortness of breath and breathing difficulties.
• In more severe cases, infection can cause pneumonia, severe acute respiratory syndrome, kidney failure and even death.
WHO’s standard recommendations
• Frequently clean hands by using alcohol-based hand rub or soap and water;
• When coughing and sneezing cover mouth and nose with flexed elbow or tissue – throw tissue away immediately and wash hands;
• Avoid close contact with anyone who has fever and cough;

• Avoid touching eyes, nose and mouth;
• If you have fever, cough and difficulty breathing seek medical care early and share previous travel history with your health care provider;
• Avoid spitting in public;
• The consumption of raw or undercooked animal products should be avoided. Raw meat, milk or animal organs should be handled with care, to avoid cross-contamination with uncooked foods, as per good food safety practice.
Wash Your Hands Often to Stay Healthy
You can help yourself and your loved ones stay healthy by washing your hands often, especially during these key times;
• Before and after eating food
• Before, during, and after preparing food
• Before and after treating a cut or wound
• After blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing
• After using the toilet
• After touching garbage
• After touching an animal, animal feed, or animal waste
• After handling pet food or pet treats
Follow Five Steps to Wash Your Hands the Right Way
Washing your hands is easy, and it’s one of the most effective ways to prevent the spread of germs. Clean hands can stop germs from spreading from one person to another and throughout an entire community—from your home and workplace to childcare facilities and hospitals.
Follow these five steps every time.
1. Wet your hands with clean, running water (warm or cold), turn off the tap, and apply soap.
2. Lather your hands by rubbing them together with the soap. Lather the backs of your hands, between your fingers, and under your nails.
3. Scrub your hands for at least 20 seconds. Need a timer? Hum the “Happy Birthday” song from beginning to end twice.
4. Rinse your hands well under clean, running water.
5. Dry your hands using a clean towel or air dry them.
https://www.cdc.gov/handwashing/when-how-handwashing.html NOTE:
For students/LPs with acute respiratory infection, fever and cough are advised to seek medical care as soon as possible and secure from his/her attending physician to be submitted to IHS before reporting to school/work.
LPs are advised to report and send to IHS those students who have complaints or manifestations mentioned above. Upon assessment at IHS, if the student is sick, he/she will be advised to go home. Parents/guardian will be informed.
Advice on Wearing Face Masks
According to the World Health Organization, wearing medical mask is one of the preventive measures to limit spread of certain respiratory diseases, including 2019-nCoV. However, the use of a mask alone is insufficient to provide the adequate level of protection and other equally relevant measures be adopted. If masks are to be used, this measure can be combined with hand hygiene and other infection prevention and control (IPC) measures to prevent human to human transmission of 2019 nCoV.
Wearing medical mask when not indicated may cause unnecessary cost, procurement burden and create a false sense of security that can lead to neglecting other essential measures such as hand hygiene practices. Furthermore, using a mask incorrectly may hamper its effectiveness to reduce the risk of transmission. For individuals without respiratory symptoms, a medical mask is not required, as no evidence is available on its usefulness to protect non-sick persons.
10 If you choose to wear a face mask, be sure to cover mouth and nose, avoid touching mask once it is on.
Discard single-use mask after use and wash hands after removing masks.
Treatment
There is no specific medicine recommended to prevent or treat the new coronavirus (2019-nCoV). Antibiotics are not effective in preventing and treating the new coronavirus. Antibiotics do not work against viruses, only bacteria.
