GOD’S WORDS FOR TODAY (Mk. 9:14- 29) The Holy Gospel according to St. Mark
And when they came to the disciples, they saw a great crowd about them, and scribes arguing with them. And immediately all the crowd, when they saw him, were greatly amazed, and ran up to him and greeted him. And he asked them, "What are you discussing with them?" And one of the crowd answered him, "Teacher, I brought my son to you, for he has a dumb spirit; and wherever it seizes him, it dashes him down; and he foams and grinds his teeth and becomes rigid;
and I asked your disciples to cast it out, and they were not able." And he answered them, "O faithless generation, how long am I to be with you? How long am I to bear with you? Bring him to me." And they brought the boy to him; and when the spirit saw him, immediately it convulsed the boy, and he fell on the ground and rolled about, foaming at the mouth.
And Jesus asked his father, "How long has he had this?" And he said, "From childhood. And it has often cast him into the fire and into the water, to destroy him; but if you can do anything, have pity on us and help us." And Jesus said to him, "If you can! All things are possible to him who believes." Immediately the father of the child cried out and said, "I believe;
help my unbelief!" And when Jesus saw that a crowd came running together, he rebuked the unclean spirit, saying to it,
"You dumb and deaf spirit, I command you, come out of him, and never enter him again." And after crying out and convulsing him terribly, it came out, and the boy was like a corpse; so that most of them said, "He is dead." But Jesus took him by the hand and lifted him up, and he arose. And when he had entered the house, his disciples asked him privately,
"Why could we not cast it out?" And he said to them, "This kind cannot be driven out by anything but prayer.
REFLECTION:
What kind of faith does the Lord Jesus expect of us, especially when we meet challenges and difficulties? Inevitably there will be times when each of us cause disappointment to others. In this Gospel incident the disciples of Jesus brought disappointment to a pleading father because they failed to heal his epileptic son. Jesus' response seemed stern; but it was really tempered with love and compassion. We see at once both Jesus' dismay with the disciples' lack of faith and his concern to meet the need of this troubled boy and his anguished father. Jesus recognized the weakness of the father's faith and at the same time challenged him to pray boldly with expectant faith: "All things are possible to him who believes!"
PRAYER:
Lord Jesus, help my unbelief! Increase my faith and trust in your saving power. Give me confidence and perseverance, especially in prayer. Amen.
Prayer of St. Gertrude
Eternal Father, I offer Thee the Most Precious Blood of Thy Divine Son, Jesus, in union with the masses said throughout the world today, for all the holy souls in purgatory, for sinners everywhere, for sinners in the universal church, those in my own home and within my family. Amen.

2 FROM THE INSTITUTIONAL SUSTAINABILITY OFFICE:
Strategic Direction on Creating Sustainable Futures
As students, how can we help to save up to 5 to 10 percent on our household energy bill?
Just by turning off small devices and appliances, you can save money and electricity. When left plugged in, our electronic gadgets and basic appliances, still use what’s called phantom or vampire energy, even when they are turned off or in sleep mode. A plugged-in cell phone, laptop and game console chargers draw energy even when it’s not charging.
Before you leave the for the day, unplug your cell phone/laptop/game console chargers, televisions, wi-fi modems, switch off the lights and turn off the fans and air conditioning units. Train our minds to make this a habit.

34TH EDSA People Power Revolution Anniversary 2020
February 25, 2020 is a special non- working holiday as per Proclamation No. 845 by the President of the Philippines.
People Power Revolution is an annual event every February 22nd through 25th in the Philippines, which commemorates the peaceful demonstrations that occurred on those dates in 1986 and led to the overthrow of the corrupt rule of President Ferdinand Marcos.
4 EDSA People Power Revolution
The Philippines was praised worldwide in 1986, when the so-called bloodless revolution erupted, called EDSA People Power’s Revolution. February 25, 1986 marked a significant national event that has been engraved in the hearts and minds of every Filipino. The true empowerment of democracy was exhibited in EDSA by its successful efforts to oust a tyrant by a demonstration without tolerance for violence and bloodshed. Prayers and rosaries strengthened by faith were the only weapons that the Filipinos used to recover their freedom from President Ferdinand Marcos’s iron hands. It was a day that gathered all Filipinos in unity with courage and faith to prevail democracy in the country. It was the power of the people, who assembled in EDSA, that restored the democratic Philippines, ending the oppressive Marcos regime. Hence, it came to be known as the EDSA People Power’s Revolution. With the power of prayers, the armed marine troops under the
command of Marcos withdrew from the site. Celebrities expressed their support putting up a presentation to showcase the injustices and the anomalies carried out by the Marcos administration. Finally, in the morning of February 25, 1986, Corazon Aquino took the presidential oath of office, administered by the Supreme Court Associate Justice Claudio Teehankee at Club Filipino located in San Juan. Aquino was proclaimed as the 11th President of the Republic of the Philippines. She was the first lady president of the country. People rejoiced over their victory proving the success of the EDSA People’s Power Revolution, the historic peaceful demonstration. The bloodless, People Power Revolution in EDSA renewed the power of the people, strengthened the meaning of democracy and restored the democratic institutions of government.

Pangolins are the only scaly mammal to exist, four species in Asia and four in Africa. The Philippine pangolin, scientifically known as Manis culionensis, thrives in Palawan faunal region alone. They help balance the ecosystem by controlling populations of ants and termites. They also naturally enrich the land by excavating soil and allowing oxygen to pass through. Little is still known about pangolins due to their natural elusive behavior, but here are some known facts about them.
