THE HOLY GOSPEL (Lk 19:11-28) The Holy Gospel according to St. Luke,

While the disciples were listening to him speak, Jesus proceeded to tell a parable because he was near Jerusalem and they thought that the kingdom of God would appear there immediately.

So he said, “A nobleman went off to a distant country to obtain the kingship for himself and then to return. He called ten of his servants and gave them ten gold coins and told them, ‘Engage in trade with these until I return.’ His fellow citizens, however despised him and sent a delegation after him to announce, “We do not want this man to be our king.’ But when he returned after obtaining the kingship, he had the servants called, to whom he had given the money, to learn what they had gained by trading. The first came forward and said, ‘Sir, your gold coin has earned ten additional ones.’ He replied, ‘’Well done, good servant! You have been faithful in this very small matter; take charge of ten cities.’… Then the other servant came, and said, ‘Sir, here is your gold coin; I kept it stored away in a handkerchief, for I was afraid of you, because you are a demanding person; you take up what you did not lay down and you harvest what you did not plant.’ He said to him, ‘With your own words I shall condemn you, you wicked servant. You knew I was a demanding person, taking up what I did not lay down and harvesting what I did not plant; why did you not put my money in a bank? Then on my return I would have collected it with interest.’ And to those standing by he said, ‘Take the gold coin from him and give it to the servant who has ten. But they said to him, ‘Sir, he has ten gold coins.’ I tell you, to everyone who has, more will be given, but from the one who has not, even what he has will be taken away….’”

After he had said this, he proceeded on his journey up to Jerusalem.

Reflections:

Is God fair? All those who received more will be more accountable before the Lord. God bestowed so much blessings, graces to you and me, what are we doing to all of these gifts? We, one day, will give an accounts to Him, are we ready? If not, then, now is the time to make our first step, our first move so that we give priority to ones that matters most than to the less essentials in life. Let this day be more meaningful to you and me, may God bless us more as One Lasallian Family.

Prayer:

Let us pray, Lord help us to cultivate all the gifts you had given us. Amen.

St. John Baptist De La Salle…Pray for us! Live Jesus in our hearts…Forever!

“Going to Mass should be a life-changing event”- Pope Francis

Going to Mass and receiving the Eucharist should make a difference in the way Catholics live, Pope Francis said; they should be more accepting of others and more aware of their sinfulness.

"If we don't feel in need of God's mercy and don't think we are sinners, it's better not to go to Mass," Pope Francis said Feb.

12 at his weekly general audience. The Eucharist is a celebration of Christ's gift of himself for the salvation of sinners, which is why the Mass begins with people confessing they are sinners and begging for the Lord's mercy. (to be continued…)

FROM THE OVCAD – INSTITUTIONAL HEALTH SERVICES:

6. Get Educated About Alcohol and Drugs: You cannot rely on the myths and misconceptions that are out there floating around among your friends and on the internet. Your ability to make the right decisions includes getting educated. Visit and learn about alcohol and learn about drugs. And, as you learn, share what you are learning with your friends and your family.

7. Be a Role Model and Set a Positive Example: Don’t forget, what you do is more important than what you say! You are setting the foundation and direction for your life; where are you headed?

8. Plan Ahead: As you make plans for the party or going out with friends you need to plan ahead. You need to protect yourself and be smart. Don’t become a victim of someone else’s alcohol or drug use. Make sure that there is someone you can call, day or night, no matter what, if you need them. And, do the same for your friends.

9. Speak Out/Speak Up/Take Control: Take responsibility for your life, your health and your safety. Speak up about what alcohol and drugs are doing to your friends, your community and encourage others to do the same.

10. Get Help!: If you or someone you know is in trouble with alcohol or drugs, (What to Look For), get help. Don’t wait. You are not alone.
