THE HOLY GOSPEL (Lk 19:1-10)
The Holy Gospel according to St. Luke,
Jesus came to Jericho and intended to pass through the town. Now a man there named Zacchaeus, who was a chief tax collector and also a wealthy man, was seeking to see who Jesus was; but he could not see him because of the crowd, for he was short in stature. So he ran ahead and climbed a sycamore tree in order to see Jesus, who was about to pass that way.
When he reached the place, Jesus looked up and said to him, “Zacchaeus, come down quickly, for today I must stay at your house.”
And he came down quickly and received him, with joy. When they all saw this, they began to grumble, saying, “He has gone to stay at the house of a sinner.” But Zacchaeus stood there and said to the Lord, “Behold, half of my possessions, Lord, I shall give to the poor, and if I have extorted anything from the anyone I shall repay it four times over.” And Jesus said to him, “Today salvation has come to this house because this man too is a descendant of Abraham. For the Son of Man has come to seek and to save what was lost.”
Reflections:
So many people would often like to make admonition to Zacchaeus for him to change his sinful ways, yet no one succeed except Jesus. Jesus showed in today’s gospel the importance of affirming relationships rather than affirming words. What counts is not what we say but how we relate and respect one another in the arena of affirmation. The role of communication in all relationships is very vital and essential. Just like Jesus he showed his real concern to Zacchaues that resulted to a conversion of his heart. May we be like Jesus to many Zacchaeus waiting to be respected and taken cared of.
Prayer:
Let us pray,
Lord, teach us to live in goodness and not in wickedness. Make us instruments of your grace and affirming love. Amen.
St. John Baptist De La Salle…Pray for us!
Live Jesus in our hearts…Forever!

1. Tomorrow November 19, the National Career Assessment Examination shall be administered to Grade 9 students all over the country. The NCAE is an assessment of students’ aptitudes and skills and estimates what field or discipline the student can excel in. The results of the NCAE will show the interest and career inclination of the student, whether it is technical-vocational, entrepreneurial, or a full college education course.
All Grade 9 students who will take the exam should take this seriously so that you will be guided on what career track is best for you. Please come as early as 6:30 AM for the test. GOOD LUCK to all of you!
Also, please be guided accordingly by the instructions from the Guidance Office posted in your classrooms.
2. There will be no classes for Grades 7, 8, and 10 tomorrow as your classrooms will be used by our examinees.

FROM THE OVCAD – INSTITUTIONAL HEALTH SERVICES:
3. Make Connections With Your Parents or Other Adults: As you grow up, having people you can rely on, people you can talk to about life, life’s challenges and your decisions about alcohol and drugs is very important. The opportunity to benefit from someone else’s life experiences can help put things in perspective and can be invaluable.
4. Enjoy Life and Do What You Love - Don’t Add Alcohol and Drugs: Learn how to enjoy life and the people in your life, without adding alcohol or drugs. Alcohol and drugs can change who you are, limit your potential and complicate your life. Too often, “I’m bored” is just an excuse. Get out and get active in school and community activities such as music, sports, arts or a part-time job. Giving back as a volunteer is a great way to gain perspective on life.
5. Follow the Family Rules About Alcohol and Drugs: As you grow up and want to assume more control over your life, having the trust and respect of your parents is very important. Don’t let alcohol and drugs come between you and your parents. Talking with mom and dad about alcohol and drugs can be very helpful.
