THE HOLY GOSPEL (Mk 4:26-34)

The Holy Gospel according to St. Mark

Jesus said to the crowds: “This is how it is with the Kingdom of God; it is as if a man were to scatter seed on the land and would sleep and rise night and day and the seed would sprout and grow, he knows not how. Of its own accord the land yields fruit, first the blade, then the ear. And when the grain is ripe, he wields the sickle at once, for the harvest has come.”

He said, “To what shall we compare the Kingdom of God, or what parable can we use for it? It is like a mustard seed that, when it is sown in the ground, is the smallest of all the seeds on the earth. But once it is sown, it springs up and becomes the largest of plants and puts forth large branches, so that the birds of the sky can dwell in its shade.” With many such parables he spoke the word to them as they were able to understand it. Without parables he did not speak to them, but to his own disciples he explained everything in private.

Reflection:

It is said that a thousand-mile journey starts with a single step. Such is also with our spiritual life. We are not required to do extraordinary things like: putting pins on our nails, not eating for a month, walking on foot from home to school, etc. We can nourish our spiritual life with simple things like: praying the rosary, respecting teachers, picking trashes, listening to a friend, etc. All of these may sound very ordinary and simple but like the mustard seed, they can be the start of a thousand- mile journey or seed that becomes a large fruit-bearing tree.

Prayer:

Lord, help us to sanctify our ordinary acts by offering it to you always. Amen.

St. John Baptist de La Salle…….Pray for us!

Live Jesus in our hearts………… Forever!

Science Brain Teaser #3 For Grade 7 and 8

A man in a restaurant asked a waiter for a juice glass, a dinner plate, water, a match, and a lemon wedge. The man poured enough water onto the plate to cover it.

"If you can get the water on the plate into this glass without touching or moving this plate, I will give you Php100," the man said. "You can use the match and lemon to do this."

A few minutes later, the waiter walked away with Php100 in his pocket. How did the waiter get the water into the glass?

For Grade 9 and 10

In Mrs. de la Cruz’s Science class, they are holding a contest. She has a glass bottle, and a little bronze ball, the size of which is the exact same as the hole in the bottle. Mrs. de la Cruz is giving the student who can put the ball in the bottle, without breaking the glass or destroying the ball somehow, an iPOD.

In her room there is a microwave, petroleum jelly, a stove, and a freezer.

Six of her seven students attempted this feat, but with no luck.

After the sixth student, the seventh, Jeo, comes up to the bottle and the ball. He thinks of using one of the tools in Mrs. de la Cruz’z room at his disposal, and uses one (not the jelly as it was already proven to not work) and five hours later, gets the ball in the bottle and his free iPOD.

How did he do it?
