GOD’S WORDS FOR TODAY (Lk 19:11-28) The Holy Gospel according to St. Luke,

While the disciples were listening to him speak, Jesus proceeded to tell a parable because he was near Jerusalem and they thought that the kingdom of God would appear there immediately.

So he said, “A nobleman went off to a distant country to obtain the kingship for himself and then to return. He called ten of his servants and gave them ten gold coins and told them, ‘Engage in trade with these until I return.’ His fellow citizens, however despised him and sent a delegation after him to announce, “We do not want this man to be our king.’ But when he returned after obtaining the kingship, he had the servants called, to whom he had given the money, to learn what they had gained by trading. The first came forward and said, ‘Sir, your gold coin has earned ten additional ones.’ He replied,

‘’Well done, good servant! You have been faithful in this very small matter; take charge of ten cities.’… Then the other servant came, and said, ‘Sir, here is your gold coin; I kept it stored away in a handkerchief, for I was afraid of you, be cause you are a demanding person; you take up what you did not lay down and you harvest what you did not plant.’ He said to him, ‘With your own words I shall condemn you, you wicked servant. You knew I was a demanding person, taking up what I did not lay down and harvesting what I did not plant; why did you not put my money in a bank? Then on my return I would have collected it with interest.’ And to those standing by he said, ‘Take the gold coin from him and give it to the servant who has ten. But they said to him, ‘Sir, he has ten gold coins.’ I tell you, to everyone who has, more will be given, but from the one who has not, even what he has will be taken away….’”

After he had said this, he proceeded on his journey up to Jerusalem.

Reflection:

Is God fair? All those who received more will be more accountable before the Lord. God bestowed so much blessings, graces to you and me, what are we doing to all of these gifts? We, one day, will give an account to Him, are we ready? If not, then, now is the time to make our first step, our first move so that we give priority to ones that matters most than to the less essentials in life. Let this day be more meaningful to you and me, may God bless us more as One Lasallian Family.

Let us pray,

Lord help us to cultivate all the gifts you had given us. Amen.

St. John Baptist De La Salle …… Pray for us Live Jesus in our Hearts…Forever!

“Daily Meal with God”

What is the Holy Eucharist?

The Holy Eucharist is a sacrament and a sacrifice. In the Holy Eucharist, under the appearances of bread and wine, the Lord Christ is contained, offered, and received.

(a) The whole Christ is really, truly, and substantially present in the Holy Eucharist. We use the words "really, truly, and substantially" to describe Christ's presence in the Holy Eucharist in order to distinguish Our Lord's teaching from that of mere men who falsely teach that the Holy Eucharist is only a sign or figure of Christ, or that He is present only by His power.

(b) All Christians, with but few minor exceptions, held the true doctrine of the Real Presence from the time of Christ until the Protestant Revolution in the sixteenth century.

(c) The word "Eucharist" means "Thanksgiving."

FROM THE OVCAD – INSTITUTIONAL HEALTH SERVICES:

The Disadvantages of Soft Drinks

The most commonly consumed soda is cola. Sodas typically contain carbonation, sugar or fructose, phosphoric acid, sodium and excess calories. Unfortunately, sodas are often a substitute for water and other healthier fluids. Consuming soda yields many disadvantages, including dehydration, high-sugar intake, weight gain and calcium depletion.

Dehydration

Sixty percent of your body weight is comprised of water. You lose water when you sweat, urinate and breathe. For the body to continue functioning properly, you must replace the lost water with ingested fluids. Sodas are often consumed in the place of water or other hydrating fluids. Many sodas contain caffeine, which acts as a diuretic, increasing urination and leaving the body with less available fluid to carry out important functions. Additionally, some diet sodas contain significant amounts of sodium, which may draw water from the cells and promote dehydration.
