Path Analysis on Life Course Factors Affecting Overweight and Obesity in Children Aged 2 to 5 Years Old in Surakarta

Background: Globally, prevalence of obesity in children under 5 years old has been increasing from 32 million in 1990 to 42 million in 2014. Indonesia ranks highest in the number of obesity cases in South East Asia with prevalence of 11.5% in 2013. However, child overweight and obesity have not been the focus of health problems in Indonesia. Early intervention and prevention of child obesity can reduce long-term risk of chronic diseases in adulthood. This study aimed to analyze the life course factors affecting overweight and obesity in children aged 2 to 5 years old in Surakarta. Subjects and Method: This was an analytic observational study with case control design. The study was conducted in 5 community health centers, Surakarta, from September to October, 2017. A total sample of 150 children aged 2 to 5 years old was selected using fixed disease sampling. The dependent variable was overweight or obesity. The independent variables were nutrition intake, exclusive breastfeeding, starting age of complementary feeding, physical activity, birthweight, age of gestation, sectio cesarea labor, maternal body mass index, and maternal job. Physical activity data was measured using Pre PAQ questionnaire. Other data were collected using a set of questionnaire and maternal and child health monitoring book. The data were analyzed by path analysis.

Partisipan secara fisik diperiksa kesehatannya oleh dokter umum. Darah diambil dari vena sebanyak 2,5 mL oleh petugas analis kesehatan. Specimen urin anak usia sekolah (6-12 tahun) dikumpulkan dalam kantong plastik dan kemudian dipindahkan sebanyak 5 mL ke dalam botol yang bebas iod dan telah diberi timol. Pemeriksaan TSH, fT4 dan EIU dilaksanakan di laboratorium GAKI, universitas Diponegoro, Semarang. Penentuan Hb dilakukan secara cyanmethomoglobin.

The paper reports a 5 year old male sheep±goat interspeci®c hybrid born under natural conditions. The hybrid was castrated at 10 months of age. Karyotype analysis con®rmed that the animal was a male and a hybrid with 57 chromosomes, an intermediate number between sheep (2nˆ54) and goat (2nˆ60). Morphological characteristics of the animal were compared with those of castrated male Tswana goats of the same age. Data on castrated male Tswana sheep of the same age are not available. The hybrid at 5 years of age weighed 93 kg compared to 53.7313.83 kg, the average weight of castrated Tswana male goats of the same age. Language improvements to date are reported primarily for functions related to picture naming in case studies and small patient samples (e.g. four patients) at 8 months post-stimulation and up to 43 months post-stimulation [2,5,7–9]. Hamilton et al. [6] suggest that the application of rTMS to the intact contralateral hemisphere may induce effects that gen- eralize beyond naming to propositional speech includ- ing spontaneously elicited speech using picture stimuli. With reference to the theory of transcallosal disin- hibition proposed by Heiss and Theil [10], rTMS has been applied to a language homologue in the RH to inhibit extraneous activity identified on previous func- tional neuroimaging studies in patients with non-fluent aphasia in the IFG [11,12] and in patients with left hemisphere (LH) brain tumours [13]. High levels of activation found in homologous language centres post- stroke suggest an interhemispheric shift in neural lan- guage networks to recruit undamaged neural resources in the unaffected hemisphere [14,15]. Recruitment of RH sites post-stroke represented by increased cortical activation is postulated to be less efficient in language
