Currently, there is no formal definition of the creative economy, which depends on its use in the economic system of each country and the various organizations involved. In summary, the definition of "creative economy" includes the common element of the concept of an economy based on knowledge, education, work creation, and the use of intellectual property, and is related to cultural roots, society's accumulated knowledge, and new technologies/innovations [Thailand Creative and Design Center, Office for Knowledge Management and Development (public organization), 2011]. The definition of creative economy in the context of Thailand by the Bureau of National Economic and Social Development (2011) is the development of an economy based on the creation and application of knowledge, creativity and intellectual property related to the cultural background, accumulated knowledge of society, technologies and innovations in the production of new goods and services with the aim of creating economic added value with the aim of increasing the country's competitiveness in accordance with the framework for the development of Thailand's creative economy, as shown in Figure 2.1. .
Richard Florida is best known for his concept of the creative class and its implications for urban regeneration. Chiang Mai is a city with the readiness of economy, tourism, local culture, human resources, skill sets and creative industries, infrastructure and other elements as a mechanism to promote it as a creative city model. This research aims to explore the current environment and potential of Chiang Mai by focusing on its urbanization as a research framework. Based on the criteria of the Office of the National Economic and Social Development Board (Figure 3.2), I classify the creative industries within Nimmanhemin area and Koo Muang area into five groups, viz. 1) furniture business is in the craft and design group, (2) fashion business is in the fashion group, (3) spa and beauty business is in the traditional Thai medicine group, (4) office or functional creation business is in the advertising, architectural design and software group, and (5) The supporting industries group includes food and beverage businesses, cafes, entertainment venues, hostels, educational institutes and health services.
In this research, an assessment of businesses that facilitate creative industries is based on the ability and quantity of product creation that is generated from the entrepreneurs' design ideas, which include their brand, uniqueness, design, production, copyright and understanding. on the economy and creative industries.
RESEARCH FINDINGS
Tangible support in terms of product development from government organizations and educational institutes is likely to be another factor that can encourage the full development of this field. According to a survey of local entrepreneurs, many of them are of the new generation and have graduated from universities in Chiang Mai. Some of the reasons to come to this area are that there are enough service businesses in the area, such as restaurants and cafes, and there are activities that encourage craft-making ideas, such as craft fairs, second-hand markets, swap fairs knowledge and that customers visiting this area will have the opportunity to meet entrepreneurs and freelancers in person.
Koo Muang Area: Coexistence of Creative Industries and Lanna Civilization This area now consists of various educational institutions and service companies, making it unique. According to an initial investigation, there are creative industries intermingling with the Lanna civilization in the area. According to a survey of employees working in this area, of all employees have lived in the area for more than 20 years and have earned a bachelor's degree in Chiang Mai.
According to the interviews about living in this area, most interviewees agree that they like to live in a naturally peaceful area where there are educational institutions and inspiring places (places for exhibiting works and for meditation) and there is a exchange of knowledge with local people. Moreover, many young generation people who have moved to this area say that this area has many thinking experts or is an area with the quality of both natural conditions and residents. According to a survey, local people, including related public and private sectors, are well aware of the problem in this area.
However, there is a lack of the host and unity in management over who will be the main host to maintain the balance of man, economy and nature within this area.
DISCUSSION
The research result shows that there are a number of educational institutions in Chiang Mai that produce creative personnel. Interestingly, most of these creative employees graduated from Chiang Mai or worked at educational institutions in Chiang Mai. This indicates that educational institutions in Chiang Mai correlate with involvement in the area.
It is striking that local people are originally involved in educational institutions in Chiang Mai, such as teachers at Chiang Mai University. Chiang Mai is ready in terms of history, Lanna culture, natural environment that can attract and retain ideologues and creative workers, and educational institutions that serve as thinking leaders and produce quality human resources for the local people. Moreover, the development of basic public facilities is one of the most critical factors that can make Chiang Mai physically ready to attract partially creative people to its area.
In addition, groups of people who support Chiang Mai's development, including local organizations, important communication channels such as free magazines, and government administrative policies in terms of economics, science and technology, and good governance, are considered influences of important towards development. of Chiang Mai as a creative model city. Chiang Mai will grow a lot with supporting physical design and maintaining the uniqueness of the city, such as transportation, design of international signs and use of universal design concept for various structures, e.g. I suggest that if Chiang Mai is to expand its potential and create stability and a good career atmosphere for future generations of the population, local residents should also focus primarily on "sustainable development".
Chiang Mai is a big city where there are both Thais and foreigners who have generally perceived that it is a cultural tourist city with pleasant weather and advantageous geographical location when you consider a dimension of international trade.
