The aim of Green Policy Document

This document is established to serve green policy circle and project. It includes the list of green policies titles and main structure to implement these policies. The main headlines and sub headlines of Green Policies list were created based on:

1. UoS Vision, Mission and Goals.

2. CAA Standard 2019.

3. The UAE Green Agenda 2015-2030.

4. Climate Change and Green Policy in UAE.

5. Green Strategy and Growth in UAE.

6. UAE Vision 2021 –Sustainable Environment and Infrastructure.

7. UAE a green Economy for Sustainable Development.

8. The National Environmental Education and Awareness Strategy.

9. Youth Green Summit.

About Green Policy

A Green Policy is UoS statement about the commitment to sustainability and environmental management that UoS Activities prepared to make. Having a formal green policy shows our stakeholders that caring about environmental issues is a high priority in UoS. A green policy usually contains the following components:

1- UoS declaration for commitment to the environment.

2- Description about environmental goals and process for achieving these goals.

3- A commitment to prevent pollution and saving environment.

4- A commitment to keeping employees and community members safe.

5- A statement of the strategies and actions plan to meet these commitments.

Green policies don’t have to be lengthy. The most effective policies are written in simple language that is motivating people to change. The policy should be communicated to all stakeholders as a commitment to improving environmental sustainability.

The main purposes for Green Policies are to:

1- Provides a framework for the development of UoS green practices.

2- Creating a green vision for UoS.

3- Implement projects and practices to achieve the green vision.

The main benefits for achieving green vision and applying green policies in UoS are to:

Make healthier, safer workplace

Engage UoS stakeholders in sustainability and green life style

3-

Meet local and international requirements and standard regarding sustainability and green life.

Create competitive advantage in the marketplace and Education sector

About UAE Green Agenda 2015-2030

The UAE Cabinet approved the UAE Green Agenda 2015-2030 as an overarching framework of Green Economy actions. The Green Agenda consists of five strategic objectives:

1. Being Competitive Knowledge Economy.

2. Social Development & Quality of life.

3. Sustainable Environment & Valued Natural Resources.

4. Clean Energy & Climate Action.

5. Green Life & Sustainable Use of Resources.

Under the Green Agenda 2030, the programs include promoting sustainable environmental practices, promoting awareness and providing incentive schemes to businesses supporting green manufacturing, use of alternative fuels and promotion of green jobs to fresh graduates, amongst others.
