Na ‘n paar dae se buitengewone goeie reën in die omgewing, het die departement van water en sanitasie in Hartbeespoort, Dinsdagmiddag al 10 die sluise van die Hartbeespoortdam oopgemaak. Volgens Elsabé Oosthuizen, Beheer: waterbeheerbeampte by die departement, het sy om 14:30 Dinsdag, die 10 radiale elkeen op 300mm oopgemaak. Per radiaal is die uitlaat 13m³ (kubieke meter) per sekonde met ‘n totale uitvloei van 130m³ of

Tuck-shop client wounded in robbery
BRITS POS – RIETFONTEIN - The female owner of a tuck-shop and four clients were robbed at a tuck-shop in Ten Rooms in Rietfontein, Hartbeespoort around 18:55 on Tuesday, 1 November.
The safety gate to the premises was locked when four men arrived at the gate, one armed with a firearm who ordered the owner to unlock the door and the suspects then gained access to the premises. The owner was held at gunpoint while the thugs took cash, sweets and cigarettes.
Unsuspecting of the robbery that was in progress, two shoppers entered and were shoved into another room and were body searched and robbed. A fourth victim
entered, but resisted being taken into a room and a shot was fired which hit the victim in his leg, just above the knee.
The suspects fled the scene on foot.
Cases of business robbery and attempted murder were opened at Hartbeespoort police station. “No one has been arrested so far,”
says Lt Col Amanda Funani, SAPS Northwest spokesperson, but anyone with information is requested to call the Investigating Officer, Sgt Thabiso Matshetse on 082 370 2617.

BRITS POS – HEBRON - While members were attending a social club meeting in Hebron on Saturday, 5 November around 10:00, three armed men stormed into the meeting, held the members at gunpoint and demanded money and cellphones.
They fled the scene with the loot.
An armed robbery case was opened at Hebron police station.According to Lt Col Amanda Funani, SAPS Northwest spokesperson, no arrest has yet been made, but should the community have any information, to please call the Investigating Officer, Sgt Mashanyu on 084 495 2346.

BRITS POS - SONOP - A male motorist was on his way from Brits to Bapong when his car, a white Hyundai Tucson ran out of fuel on the Sonop Road, across the road from Sonop Primary School on Saturday, 5 November around 20:30.
Another vehicle stopped behind the complainant’s vehicle and two men approached him and it looked as if they wanted to assist, but instead, they pulled him from his vehicle, tied him up and the victim was then thrown into another vehicle and taken to a bushy area where his bank cards and cellphones were taken and the suspects demanded the banking pin numbers. The victim gave the wrong pin numbers and when the suspects returned, he was held at gunpoint, threatened and assaulted, after which he provided the
correct details. No shots were fired. He managed to free himself around 03:00 on Sunday, 6 November and later went back to collect his car, but it wasn’t there anymore.
Cases of hijacking and kidnapping were opened at Brits police station. “The vehicle has not yet been found and no arrests made,” says Lt Col Amanda Funani, spokesperson SAPS Northwest,”
but anyone with information that could assist the police with their investigation, can contact the investigating officer, Sgt Moekesti Zenzo on 014 590 4478.

BRITS POS – BRITS – ‘n Vroulike gas by ‘n huweliksgeleentheid verlede naweek by ‘n troulokaal in die Losperfontein area, noordwes van Brits, is in die vroeë oggendure van Sondag, 6 November deur ‘n man in die bespreekte kamer waar sy geslaap het, verras en hy het haar probeer verkrag en ook gewurg.
Hulp was byderhand en die verdagte het uit die kamer weggekom.
Klaarblyklik is die verdagte se selfoon en sy hoed in die klaer se bed gevind.

Anders as duisende jongmense uit klein gemeenskappe, waar werkloosheid en hulle gepaardgaande sosio-ekonomiese uitdagings, die jeug dryf na dwelm- en alkoholmisbruik, vertel die jongmanne die storie van hoop, vasberadenheid en die wil om sukses te behaal.
[N]ever [B]roke [A]gain is ‘n kwartet rymkletsers, wat ‘n boodskap van hoop deur middel van hul musiek probeer uitdra.
Met karige hulpbronne, maar met ‘n hele gemeenskap se ondersteuning, maak die vier neefs musiekvideo’s wat hulle op YouTube laai in die hoop, dat nie net hulle boodskap uitgedra word nie, maar dat hulle rou en verstommende talent raakgesien sal word.
Tweelingbroers, Ronaldo en Rivaldo Jaar (18) en hul neefs Reegan Olyn (21) en Stefano van Vuuren (20), dans al van kindsbeen af saam.
Die gemeenskap het altyd gespot dat hulle of “loop-en-dans”, “dans selfs in hulle slaap”
en “selfs terwyl hulle eet!
So dans-dans het hulle begin om as stokperdjie saam te sing.
“Om musiek te maak is vir ons baie persoonlik,” vertel die groep. “elke woord en frase in die musiek wat ons skryf, is vir ons ‘n gevoel, iets wat ons as tieners elke dag ervaar en om ons sien,”.
Hulle hoop om ‘n boodskap van hoop aan die moderne tiener, wie elke dag met uitdagings en seerkry sukkel, te bring.
“Ons wil uit ons omstandighede styg en ‘n verskil maak in ons huise en gemeenskappe,” vertel hulle. “Daar waar dalk nie ‘n liggie skyn in iemand se lewe nie, wil ons daardie persoon help om die lig
te vind,”.
Na jare se harde werk en deursettingsvermoë, het die groep eindelik die ondersteuning van die gemeenskap en veral die gemeenskaps ontwik ke lings or ga ni sa- sie, Blue Sky Impact, verdien.

Navorsing toon ook dat jong mense wat geboelie word dikwels self boelies word.
Nog ’n studie oor kuberboeliery wat op jeugdiges tussen die ouderdom van 12 en 24 gedoen is, het bevind dat 7 uit 10 van diegene wat erken het dat hulle ander boelie, self slagoffers was.
“En dis om die rede dat ons span besluit het om die euwel van boelie-wees aan te spreek en wel in die vorm van ‘n kortfilm spesifiek gemik op die laerskoolkind,”
vertel Reyno Wepener, bemarker by ATKV Buffelspoort.
“Dis ‘n prettige kortfilm waar humor gebruik word om die seer aan te spreek van kinders wat boelie en kinders wat geboelie word. Dit gaan ook oor die proses waardeur ‘n boelie gaan om te verstaan dat dit nie nodig is om te boelie nie. Die film fokus ook op die huishouding se gedrag en invloed op die boelie se gedrag by die skool. Die plaaslike gemeenskap en omgewing rondom Buffelspoort word gebruik in die skiet van die kortfilm.”
Die kortfilm: Lente gaan met vakansie is twee jaar gelede jaar met groot sukses geskiet en dit het gehandel oor vier snaakse karakters, wat dit reggekry het om menswees, omgee vir ander en lewenswaarhede uit te beeld.Die karakters sluit in die welbekende oom Karoolus en Lente (Cor en Letitia Uys), asook oompie en Lienkie (Reyno en Heidi Wepener).
Die 4 karakters was en is reeds betrokke by kinderbedienings.”
Die teks en die regie word deur Ine Reynierse, gedoen, wat groot werk by die SABC, asook in ander nasionale en internasionale films gedoen het
Die film word van 9 tot13 Oktober by ATKV-Buffelspoort en laerskool Elandskraal in Mooinooi geskiet.
Die vrystelling van die film sal einde Februarie 2023 geskied.

Ek will graag hierdie positiewe storie met die mense van Brits deel.
Ek het laas maand by my ouers op Kleinfontein gaan kuier vir ‘n maand (ek woon al 28 jaar in Taiwan).
Tydens my kuier het ek klere gaan aflaai by “Ons Winkel”. My Moeder (87) het in die kar gewag. In ‘n paar minute, was ek beroof. Een boef het my ma se aandag afgetrek en twee ander het die deure oopgemaak en my handsak gegryp.
Ek het dit by die polisie gaan aanmeld (met min hoop op ‘n goeie uitkoms), want ek het geweet ek sou ‘n polisieverslag benodig om al my dokumente te vervang (SA ID en bestuurslisensie, Taiwan ID en
bestuurslisensie en bankkaarte).
Sersant Lucky Tapala het my die aand gebel (my broer gebel, want my foon was ook gesteel) en gevra en moet weer inkom die volgende dag. Ek het so gemaak en saam met vier sersante/
speurders na die winkel teruggekeer vir verdere ondervraging, asook die mense by “Health Corner”, oorkant die straat wat dit ge’witness’ het. Die een speurder het vir my gesê hulle gaan ‘hul mense op die straat’ vra om rond te kyk, maar ek het nie veel hoop gehad nie. Die volgende oggend het sersant Lucky Tapala my broer gebel en gesê ek moet weer inkom.
Hy het vir my ‘n pakkie oorhandig...AL MY DOKUMENTE EN KAARTE was
daarin!! Ek was oorstelp met vreugde en het vir hulle ‘n koek gevat die volgende dag. Ons hoor net altyd van al die korrupsie in die owerhede, maar ek wil net hierdie storie deel om te sê dat ons wel kan staatmaak op ons polisie en nie almal oor dieselfde kam skeer nie. Ek wil my diepe dank betoon aan sersante Lucky Tapala, Edward Makhutshoane en Kgiso Sekete by Brits polisiestasie, asook die eienaars en werkers van “Health Corner”
en “Ons Winkel”. Met gebed, die hulp van totale vreemdelinge en die Brits polisiesersante, het ‘n nagmerrie in ‘n wonderlike ervaring verander. Ek kan sê, ek was baie LUCKY!

Dié Hospice versorg tans 118 pasiënte op hulle program en voorsien ‘n wye spektrum van dienste aan terminaal siek pasiënte.
Lynette Janse van Rensburg, die bestuurder van
Brits-Hartbeespoort Hospice het die agente van Chas Everitt en die personeel van LVP Prokureurs toegespreek by ‘n funksie te Vovo Telo, waartydens kospakkies met nie-bederfbare kos aan haar oorhandig is ter ondersteuning van die pasiënte en hulle gesinne, wat in baie gevalle swaar kry weens die koste van medikasie of gebrek aan inkomste, waar die broodwinner siek word.
Sy het tydens die funksie vertel dat daar geen ondersteuning van die regering is vir terminale pasiënte nie en dat die hospice slegs die palliatiewe versorging wat hulle lewer, kan voorsien met die hulp van instansies wat hande vat en hulp aanbied.

A major line-up of entertainment for “Africa’s Major”
The 40th edition of one of the flagship sports events in South Africa will be a magical mix of world-class golf and world-class entertainment in a Hospitality Village that will redefine the golf experience in celebration of this milestone year
in the illustrious history of “Africa’s Major”.
There will be live entertainment daily in the Hospitality Village from Thursday to Sunday, beginning at 16:00 daily and 15:00 on the final day and including top DJs and local musicians as well as a live screening of the rugby Test between the Springboks and France.
“Africa’s Mini Major” putting competition is also back this year after a successful debut in 2019. Each day there will be a live leaderboard on the App and the fans who end the day tied in first place will have a putting playoff on the iconic ninth green after play to decide the day’s champion. The daily winners of the Thursday, Friday and Saturday competitions will go through to the grand finale that will take place on the 18th green after the final round of the tournament on Sunday, and in front of the thousands of spectators in the grandstands around the green.

Skate series which will feature South Africa’s top action sport athletes competing on a huge OSP RampWorX demo half pipe in daily performances in the Hospitality Village.

BRITS POS – BRITS – Die uurglas van dié jaar is stadig besig om leeg te loop en tydens Floretblommeklub se onlangse byeenkoms, was Kersversierings met blomme onder die vergrootglas.
Een van die lede, Elaine Smit, het interessante ontwerpe met verskillende tipes Kersfeesringe gedemonstreer en ook meer oor die ontstaan van die gebruik van Kersfeesringe gesels. Almal bekend met die ring wat by die voordeur gedurende die Kerstyd opgehang word van die jaar. Elaine het ‘n pragtige voorbeeld gemaak van ‘n tipiese ring wat in Europa opgehang word met sneeu, siprestakkies, dennebolle en bokkies.
Sy het ook ‘n voorbeeld gedemonstreer vir die gebruik op ‘n kostafel. Die kleure van groen, wit en skakerings van rooi, pienk en pers het elkeen ‘n spesifieke betekenis wat uit vorige eeue dateer. Die rooi kleur word geassosieer met liefde, passie en vuur, groen simboliseer hoop, sowel as die natuur en lewe en wit roep suiwerheid, vreugde, geloof en verligting op, terwyl die goue kleur dui op voorspoed en rykdom. Die lede het die demonstrasie baie insiggewend en leersaam gevind. Die Garden World Kwekery in Randburg het in Oktober ‘n blommeskou, in samewerking met Gauteng Flora-unie aangebied en twee lede van Floret, Sinie Otto en San Pieterse het aan hierdie skou deelgeneem en baie goed presteer. Die tema van die skou was Urban Rhythm wat ‘n straa toneel in die stad uitgebeeld het.

needed in locating missing man
BRITS POS – MOOINOOI - The police in Mooinooi request the community’s assistance in locating Annastatia Vuledzani Singo (41), who resides at Fuchsia Street in Mooinooi, west of Brits.

He allegedly left for work at a local mine on Monday, 31 October around 06:00 and phoned his wife two hours later, telling her that he was in Mooinooi, but he never returned home. Singo was last seen by one of his colleagues at the mine on Tuesday, 1 November. A search was conducted around the neighbourhood and Mooinooi, but without any success.
Police also phoned his relatives in Limpopo, but he wasn’t there.
When he disappeared, he wore a
green work suit with a yellow stripe and navy-blue T-shirt. He is tall, of medium built build, brown in complexion and he has a bald head. In addition, Singo is mentally challenged.

The GM’s Kasi Ride, so-called because Sun City General Manager Brett Hoppé joined cyclists including guests on Sunday, 30 October 2022 as they cycled through four villages surrounding Sun City – Ledig, Rasimone, Robega and Chaneng. The event was attended by over 1,600 community members.
Twenty-eight members of Soshanguve Cycling Club cycled 147km from Pretoria to Sun City on Saturday, rested the night at the Bush Bungalows, which offers guests an authentic African experience, tucked away from the bustle of the resort while offering easy access to the resort’s activities and experiences.
Waking up refreshed on Sunday, they completed the 25km GM Kasi Ride. The cycling club was chosen as they participate in many community upliftment endeavours.
Soshanguve sponsorship coordinator Tshifhiwa Naledzani said the team was pleased to endure “pain on the bike” in support the cause of mental health. “Every year we do one ride per season where we raise money for causes including underprivileged children and child headed households,” Naledzani said.
The Ride was part of Sun City’s promotion of Mental Health Awareness Month and saw a talk by the North West Health MEC Madoda Sambatha. Master of Ceremonies, Somizi, also addressed those gathered about the importance of mental health.
“Sun City is very focused on community development and upliftment and has a number of initiatives which are on-going.
Even our newly announced R295-million Sun Vacation Club development includes community upliftment and skills transfer,”
Hoppé said.
“We are always mindful that many of our doorstep communities rely on Sun City for employment and for enterprise development opportunities we provide for them. It is a privilege and a pleasure to be able to give back to our neighbours,” he said.
After the run and ride finished, a braai was held for attendees to relax and enjoy the day at the iconic resort. The entertainment included an exciting line up with headline artists such as Zakes Bantwini and Sjava and many more.
