''The Habimah, the Hebrew ational Th alre," wa the ul je l of an intere ting lectur ghen at the Zionist Conver azion on Tue da night by Mr. David ardi. n exceedingly large gathering wa pre ent, and Mr. J. Weinreich acted as host.

Mr. ardi is one of the original member of the Habimah and he told in intere ting fa hion the tory of the birth and develop- ment of this Hebrew dramatic company.

The lecture wa illumined by a per onal note which the peaker often allowed to creep into hi tale and by his recounting many anecdotes and incident in which Ile had been either a pa ticipant or a witne s.

Mr. ardi explained how the Habimah had been founded by and among the Jewish intelligent ia in Mo cow. Thi was in contradi Linction to the Yiddish theatre which had prung from the ma e and had received scant support from the intelligentsia.

A great drawback with which they had had to contend wa the fact that there were practically no good play in Hebrew, with the re ult that they had to u e translation . In thL re pect the Yiddi h theatre cored.
