Parnchute packers are at first Lrained for n rnonth ns fabric worker.' at a technical nir school, vdiere th y lean. to work with specially pr pared paraehute fabric. An- other month compl t s their training as parachute packers and they are then postetl to nir stations. 'rhe parachutes hang from the ceiling of a huge loft. Every month the parachutes are opened, inspected and repacked. The girls test the fine silk with meticulous care before packing for they know that a drawn thread, n minute fla\\' may mean that a pilot will jump to hi.;;

On air station after e 'ery flight the pilot returns his parachute to th packing room, and it is checked before being placed on the shel.L ready for th next flight.
