pany of Jewish players will be aug- mented and enhanced by the addition of two popular overseas artists, Miss Vera Kanevska and Mr. Paul Breit- man, when they present the new play,
"Rachel's Children," at the Standard Theatre from Tuesday to Friday, June 7, 8, 9, and 10, with a matinee performance on Wednesday.
Although "Rachel's Children" is be- ing presented here for the first time, it is well known in America and Europe, and has been running in New York for the past eight months with conspicuous success. It is a musical melodrama and is recognised as one of the most entertaining Jewish plays of its type.
Vera Kanevska and Paul Breitman will probably be remembered by Jo- hannesburg theatregoers, for they have made two previous visits to South Africa. Vera Kanevska is ranked among the most brilliant act- resses on the Jewish sta~e, and is equally at home in melodrama and operetta.
Paul Breitman is a versatile actor.
He commenced his career in Russian drama in St. Petersburg-as Lenin- g-rad was then called- and since then has never looked back. He has ap- peared in nearly every European capital and his performance in the play, "Rachel's Children," will prove a revelation in histrionic ability,
