STELLALANDER-BABERSPAN- The MEC of the department of Economic Development, Environment, Conservation and Tourism is turning a blind eye to 10 years of pollution in the Baberspan Bird Sanctuary.
A report released by the North West Parks Board after an oversight visit by the Portfolio Committee on Economic Development, Environment, Conservation and Tourism (DEDECT), stated that the bird numbers and diversity at the Baberspan Bird Sanctuary are plummeting due to the Harts River pollution.
Barberspan Bird Sanctuary, also known as the Barberspan Reserve, was declared a “Ramsar Site”, or Wetland of International Importance in 1971.
Due to the diversity and abundance of water birds, especially migratory birds, present in the pan, it was also included in the list of International Wetlands under the RAMSAR convention and declared an “International Important Bird Area” by Birdlife International.
Now pollution is threatening this acclaimed gem of our province. According to the report, four non-working sewage plants upstream are the leading cause of untreated raw sewage overflowing into veld, wetlands and the
Harts River flowing into Barberspan. The report states that this has been happening for more than ten years! Mismanagement and maladministration are the main factors at play and is now the cause of the threat to the ecological integrity of the pan and its RAMSAR status.
The Department of Forestry, Fisheries and Environment (DFFE) National Ramsar Management Committee chose Baberspan to pilot an enforcement project by Special Environmental Investigators from DFFE, Department of Mineral Resources and Energy (DME), and the Department of Water and Sanitation (DWS) to investigate the effect of sewage plants and mines and their impact on the Harts River. Three tanker truck operators were caught in the act during the investigation, pumping out raw sewage into the veld and the river. “We hold MEC of DEDECT, Kenetswe Mosenogi personally responsible for the extent of the damage done to this beautiful heritage
and the mere fact that the MEC has allowed this to carry on for ten years is proof of her incompetence and total lack of political will. The DA will request a full report on the progress of the investigation into the illegal dumping of raw sewage by the three tanker trucks and lodge a formal complaint with the Green Scorpions”.
The DA will persist in putting pressure on the North West Government not to leave us with an environmentally damaged future and ensure the protection of our most precious resource, water.
STELLALANDER-VRYBURG- A congratulatory ceremony in celebration of the academic achievements of Matriculants in the Naledi Local Municipal area, took place at the Banquet Hall, in Vryburg, late February.
In honour of the academic excellence of the Matric Class of 2021, and to motivate future grade 12 learners to strive for excellence and to pursue higher education at tertiary institutions, a solar company funded this event for the second consecutive year. “It is an honour to receive this kind of recognition and be awarded for Excellence
in Academic Performance, as this will serve as a springboard for me to begin this new chapter in my life,” said Refentse Dikgwatlhe, a pupil from Pule Leeuw Secondary School.
In addition to awarding excellence certificates, the solar company also distributed 20 laptops to the top achievers, which is no doubt an essential item for future studies. “We chose to support the community in this way not only to reward top learners but also to acknowledge the good work done by principals and teachers.
These events are important because they serve to remind community members that there are individuals among them who proudly represent the potential that can be unlocked through hard work. It also motivates members of the community to strive for better within their own circles,” said Claire Phutieagae, Community Liaison Officer for the solar company. This programme forms part of the solar project’s Socio-Economic Development programme, which aims to stimulate
and recognise academic achievements of Matriculants, in schools across the area. It targets top learners from ten schools in the
area, including Bopaganang Secondary, Colinda Secondary, John Frylinck Secondary, Kismet Secondary, Nqunde Secondary School, Pule Leeuw Secondary, Rekgaratlhile Secondary, Stella High School, Tiger Kloof Combined School, and Vryburg High School. (Image:

en “vlak 2” bevindings, met vlak 1 wat die dringendste is. Comair kan appelleer teen die skorsing onder deel 185.04.2 van die regulasies. “Die SABLO erken die pogings van die operateur om die bevindinge so gou as moontlik te sluit en in hierdie verband het die operateur die bewyse vanaf die aand van Saterdag (12 Maart) aan die reguleerder begin versend,” lui die verklaring. “Die inspektoraatspan het deur die nag gewerk om die bewyse wat ontvang is, te hersien en soos om 06:30 die oggend van 13 Maart het die reguleerder die regstellende aksie en bewyse aanvaar wat ten opsigte van een vlak 1-bevinding ingedien is. Dit beteken dus dat hierdie bevinding nou gesluit is.” Die SAL het gesê die hersiening van die res van die getuienis waarvan die jongste vanoggend omstreeks 07:30 ontvang is, sal vanoggend steeds deur die inspektoraat beoordeel en hersien word. Twee vlak 1-bevindings, en een vlak 2-bevinding moet nog aangespreek word. Die SAL het verduidelik dat ‘n vlak 1-bevinding wat ‘n onmiddellike risiko inhou, ingevolge sy toesigfilosofie onmiddellik gesluit moet word en dat ‘n vlak 2-bevinding binne sewe dae gesluit moet word. “Die SABLO het probeer om Comair se nakoming van toepaslike burgerlugvaartregulasies te
bevestig. Die inspeksie was ook daarop gemik om Comair se gehaltebeheerbestuurstelsel en veiligheidsbestuurstelsels te hersien om nakoming te vestig wat verband hou met verslagdoening, ontleding en opvolging van voorvalle, en regstellendeaksieplanne om herhaling te voorkom,” lui die verklaring.
“Die verbintenis tot veiligheid in hierdie geval vervang enige ander behoefte en dit is om te verseker dat Suid-Afrika sy veiligheidsrekord handhaaf om ZERO-noodlottige
vliegtuigongelukke in meer as dertig jaar op Suid-Afrikaanse bodem te hê.” In ‘n verklaring wat Sondagmiddag uitgereik is, het Comair gesê dat hy steeds konstruktief met die reguleerder in gesprek tree. “Ten spyte daarvan dat hy deur die nag gewerk het, sal Comair nie Maandag (14 Maart) bedrywighede kan hervat nie,” het hy gesê. “Ons prioriteit is nou om passasiers wat gestrand is, by te staan.
Ons het twee vliegtuie gehuur om kwesbare passasiers en diegene wat dringend moet reis, by te staan.” Nadat die Suid-Afrikaanse Burgerlugvaartowerheid aanvanklik alle Comair-vlugte en sy bedryfsertifikaat vir 24 uur opgeskort het, het hy nou daardie skorsing onbepaald gemaak. Dit beteken dat alle Kulula- en British Airways-vlugte in en van Suid-Afrika nou gegrond is. Die besluit het reeds honderde reisigers geraak en is nou ingestel om baie meer te beïnvloed. Die CAA sê dit kom alles neer op veiligheidsbekommernisse wat eenvoudig nie deur Comair aangespreek is nie.

years at Baberspan
STELLALANDER-DEELPAN- Lede van die Provinsiale Rampbestuursentrum is in kennis gestel van die situasie in Deelpan wat na bewering die boerderygemeenskapp en ongeveer 2000 plaaslike huishoudings letterlik in water gedompel is.
Spanne was reeds op die grond om die skade wat deur die onlangse oorstromings veroorsaak is, te bepaal.
Die rampbestuurspan het Deelpan inwoners, wat deur die vloede geraak is, in ‘n plaaslike kerk laat bly. Kos en water word aan hierdie inwoners voorsien. Die departement het met die hulp van die departement van openbare werke ‘n TLB ontplooi om met die situasie te help deur vore oop te maak sodat water van huise af kan wegvloei.
Die ontplooiing van skrapers is egter belemmer deur die grond wat nog baie nat is, wat veroorsaak dat die swaar masjinerie in die modder vassteek. Die departement het deur interaksie met lede van die SAPD verneem van ‘n liggaam wat in die vloedwater ontdek is. ‘n Persoon van die Deelpan gemeenskap het ‘n liggaam op die water sien dryf en die polisie in kennis gestel. Die liggaam het meswonde aan sy lyf en koptrauma gehad. Volgens polisiewoordvoerder kol Adéle Myburgh ondersoek Sannieshof speurders ‘n klagte van moord. Die voorval is laataand Dinsdag (8 Maart) aan die polisie gerapporteer. Polisieduikers het Woensdag (9 Maart) om 14:00 die liggaam uit die water gehaal, omdat hulle nie in die nag onder water kan soek nie. Myburgh sê die oorlede se familielede was op die toneel toe die liggaam uit die water gehaal is en het hom uitgeken as die 40-jarige Leko Lukas Nyati. Die moord ondersoek duur voort. Lenah Miga, LUR vir samewerkende regering, menslike nedersettings en tradisionele sake, het met skok verneem oor die herhaling van ‘n ramp in Deelpan in die Tswaing plaaslike munisipaliteit in die Ngaka Modiri Molema-distrik. “Dit sal regtig jammer wees vir hierdie persoon om die slagoffer te word van die oorstromings wat ons nou ervaar.
Ons was baie gelukkig dat tydens vorige rampe teen die einde van verlede jaar, dat terwyl baie hul eiendom verloor het, daar geen lewensverlies was nie,” het Miga gesê.
Deelpan tragedie
STELLALANDER-TAUNG- A 27-year- old mother is expected to appear before the Taung Magistrates’ Court for the alleged murder of her own year-old baby girl.
The mother’s court appearance stems from an incident reported late Friday (11 March).
The grandparents allegedly reported that they saw the 27-year-old mother leaving the house in Dryharts with her 1-year-old baby, but returned alone later. Upon questioning her about the whereabouts of her child, she could not give any explanation and the police were contacted. Subsequent investigations led the police to an open bushy area, where the body of the baby was found on Saturday afternoon (12 March). Preliminary investigation revealed that baby had what appeared to be a stab wound in her neck. The baby was declared dead on the scene by Emergency Medical Rescue Services (EMRS) paramedics. The 27-year-mother was immediately arrested on a charge of murder. Reboane Cordelia Badise (27) appeared before the Taung Magistrates’ Court on Monday (14 March) and will remain in custody until her next court appearance on Tuesday (22 March).
The Provincial Commissioner of North West, Lieutenant General Sello Kwena, thanked the grandparents for quickly reporting the incident and working with the police to ensure that the baby’s mother faces the full might of the Law.
Mother kills her own baby
STELLALANDER-VRYBURG- The Naledi patrollers are fighting crime since December 2021 in Vryburg, Huhudi and surrounding towns.
The patrollers were re-established in 2021, following the initial establishment in 2014. According to the manager of the Naledi patrollers, Clifford Shoarane, a budget of R31 million was approved for the patrollers in 2014 by the North West government. The concept and the budget of the patrollers was then shifted to Klerksdorp for a pilot project that only lasted for almost nine months. Shoarane the re-applied for a budget to be financed for Naledi, but they are awaiting engagement with Premier Maape on the issue. According to Shoarane the intention is to have a total of 250 patrollers, 70 in Colridge, 80 in Huhudi, 70 in Extention 25 and 28 and the remaining in town and Vryburg residential area. Currently there are 37 patrollers that are employed by the Naledi Municipality. Earlier in February this year, crime prevention committees with volunteers were established in Huhudi, Extention 25 and 28 and Colridge. Since the re-establishment of the patrollers, a monumental number of arrests and high-valued recoveries were made by them. Cellphones, truck lights, laptops, speed point
machines, gas bottles, cash, speakers and a vehicle, to mention but a few of the recoveries by the patrollers. The most recent recovery, was a cricket pitch lawnmower, weed-eater, gas bottle and Gazebo, valued at R 42 000 that was recovered in Huhudi and a suspect was arrested with the assistance of Warrant Officer Rassie Erasmus of the K9-unit of Vryburg. Shoarane says they are working hand-in-hand with the police and are strengthening their forces by being the foot soldiers on the ground. Gold bearing material across borders
STELLALANDER-MMABATHO- In a bid to address transnational crimes, the vigilant police officers at the Ramatlabama Port of Entry, stopped and searched a Volvo truck entering South Africa from Zambia via Botswana.
50 Bags of gold bearing material confiscated at Ramatlabama Port of Entry.
The truck, which was heading to Johannesburg, was searched by the police officers.
During the search, the police discovered approximately 50 bags, containing possible gold bearing material. The driver and passenger could neither account for the goods nor produce any documentation or authority to be in possession of this material. The duo, aged 22 and 28, were immediately arrested and were expected to appear in the Molopo Magistrates’ Court in Mmabatho on Monday (14 March) on a charge of possession of possible gold bearing material.

Avoid becoming a statistic
As we all know, prevention is better than a cure, and to prevent a hijacking situation, one needs to be equipped with the correct information and expertise.
Here are some tips on how you can reduce the chances of becoming the latest statistic. “It’s all about staying alert when you are behind the wheel… If you think you’re being followed, don’t turn into your driveway”, says insurance companies.
Hijacking Hijacking is rapidly becoming the leading type of vehicle crime in South Africa.
According to the SA Police Service crime statistics released last month, 5,455 hijackings were reported between October and December 2021 – a 13.8% increase over the same period the previous year. So how do you reduce your chances of becoming the latest statistic? Here are 5 tips to avoid being hijacked. Be careful
that you’re not being followed One of the most common places people are hijacked is their own driveway. If you think you’re being followed, don’t turn into your driveway – rather keep driving. If the car stays behind you, drive straight to the nearest police station.
And even if there’s no-one around you, don’t drive straight into your driveway: if you’re able to, pull up parallel to the road while the gate is opening, so that you have some space to get away if you see a suspicious vehicle approaching.
Watch out for cars slowing down
There’s an increasing trend of hijackers stopping suddenly on a highway offramp or busy street.
When you stop, they take your car at gunpoint.
Another modus operandi is for the hijackers to bump into your car from behind, to make you pull over and assess the damage.
Be aware of your surroundings When stopped
at intersections, don’t check your messages or fiddle with the car radio. Stay alert to what’s happening around you, and watch out for any potential threats. Keep your windows closed and your doors locked, and leave enough room in the traffic to avoid getting boxed in.
Don’t be the hero
If a hijack happens, just give up your car and your possessions. Move slowly. Keep your hands visible, and don’t look directly at the hijackers. If you have children in the car, tell the hijacker that you’re going to take a few seconds to get them out. Don’t get involved in verbal or physical altercations. Your life is worth more than your earthly possessions.
Make sure you’re covered
Make sure that your car insurance cover is up to date and that you do what’s required of you. Also, check whether your policy offers emergency assistance, in case anything happens to you, and make sure that you’ve saved the number on your phone.
Numerous murders in Bloemhof
STELLALANDER-BLOEMHOF- The Provincial Commissioner of North West, Lieutenant General Sello Kwena, welcomed the life imprisonment sentence handed down to Ofentse Andries Konjo (37) on Thursday (10 March), by the Bloemhof Regional Court.
The court appearance emanates from a 50-year-old man that was reported missing by his family on 27 March 2021. During police investigations, minor aged witnesses came forward and explained how their own father (Konjo) killed the victim with an axe on Sewefontien Farm, near Bloemhof.
They further pointed out an old grave on the farm where the victim was buried. Konjo was ultimately arrested on 5 May 2021 and appeared in the Bloemhof Regional Court
the same day. The court did not grant him bail and he remained in custody until he was sentenced.
In another unrelated incident, Bloemhof Regional Court found Eva Tau (24), guilty for murder on Thursday (10 March). This verdict came after police who were on patrol met Tau, holding her boyfriend, Piet Tsimanakwe Wageng (38) in her arms, with a stab wound on his chest in the early hours of 20 July 2020 at Protea Street, Bloemhof.
She alleged that her boyfriend was stabbed by two unknown men who fled the scene.
Emergency Medical and Rescue Services (EMRS) paramedics were immediately summoned and took Wageng to the Bloemhof Community Health Centre where he died shortly after arrival. Police investigations revealed that Tau and Wageng had an argument at his place, whilst in the company of friends. Tau, during the argument, pushed Wageng outside the house and stabbed him.
Sentencing will follow shortly.
The 18-year-old, Zwelethu Victor Sengwape, was also found guilty for murder by the Bloemhof Regional Court on Thursday (10 March). Sengwape was found guilty in connection with an incident in which the then 16-year-old Sengwape, on
21 September 2020 murdered a four-year- old girl. According to information presented before the court, Sengwape took the four- year-old girl to an open field (dumping site, situated in Extension 5, Boitumelong, next to the N12) where he raped and strangled her to death.
The accused was arrested after being handed over to the police by a local pastor whom he (Sengwape) confided in that he killed a young girl and left her body in the bushes. Sengwape made his first court appearance on 23 September 2020.
Sentencing is expected to take place, pending the pre-sentencing report by a social worker.
The Provincial Commissioner applauded the Bloemhof investigating officers and all other role players including prosecution for their diligence in ensuring that the accused are convicted which he said will serve as a warning to those who perpetrate serious crimes that they will do their time in jail.

STELLALANDER - HUHUDI - A new Station Commander was appointed at Huhudi Police Station from 1 March. Lt Col Patrick Mbotho is the Station Commander for Huhudi that will serve the community of Huhudi en farms from the Schweizer-Reneke road to the Taung road.

Agri SA se navorsing en ontleding dui daarop dat die Oekraïne-Rusland-krisis ’n ernstige uitwerking op voedselsekerheid in Suid-Afrika sal hê en dat dit ’n wesentlike risiko vir dele van die landbousektor inhou.
Met globale koringpryse en landbou-insetkoste wat astronomies styg, moet die regering dringend stappe neem om die brandstofheffing op te skort ten einde verligting te bring vir boere, veral die nasie se kleinskaalse boere. Dit kan help om ook voedselpryse vir Suid-Afrikaanse verbruikers in toom te hou. Suid-Afrika se handel met Oekraïne het geweldig toegeneem oor die afgelope dekade.
Tussen 2016 en 2020 het Suid-Afrika se landbou- uitvoer na Oekraïne meer as verdubbel - vanaf R76,5 miljoen in 2016 tot R155 miljoen in 2020.
Landbou-invoer, wat redelik stabiel gebly het, het in 2020 sowat R390 miljoen beloop.
Oekraïne sowel as Rusland is belangrike koringprodusente vir die wêreldmark en verantwoordelik vir ’n kwart van globale koringuitvoer. Onderbreking van die voorraadketting van dié stapelvoedsel sal wêreldwyd voedselprysskokke veroorsaak, veral in Suid-Afrika, wat 30% van die land se totale koring van hierdie lande invoer.

tussen Januarie 2021 en Januarie 2022. Plaaslike kunsmispryse het verdubbel, terwyl globale kunsmispryse vervierdubbel het.
Boere was dus reeds onder druk voor die huidige krisis. Die Russiese inval van die Oekraïne het bloot dié druk vererger. Brent-ruoliepryse het ook nagenoeg verdriedubbel tussen Februarie en Maart 2022. Met die onlangse, sowel as verwagte styging in brandstofpryse, sal die vervoerkoste om voedsel by Suid-Afrikaanse verbruikers te kry geweldig toeneem oor die volgende paar maande - tensy die regering stappe neem om dit te vermy.
Dit is die rede waarom Agri SA ’n beroep doen op die regering om gedurende hierdie krisis brandstofheffings op te skort ten einde ’n toename in voedselpryse te vermy. Versuim om op te tree, sal bloot die kostedruk op verbruikers vererger en sodoende voedselsekerheid in Suid- Afrika in gevaar stel, veral vir die mees kwesbare gemeenskappe. Tesame met verbruikers, sal die opskorting van brandstofheffings beskerming bied aan kwesbare kleinskaalse boere teen toenames in insetkoste en teen die verwagte aanslag op landbou-inkomste vanaf Rusland en Oekraïne. Landboukommoditeite is verantwoordelik vir meer as die helfte van alle Suid-Afrikaanse uitvoer na Oekraïne, meestal vrugte en neute.
Dit sal waarskynlik ’n geweldige uitwerking op die prestasie van sommige bedrywe in die eerste kwartaal van 2022 hê. Sitrusprodukte beslaan die grootste gedeelte van uitvoer na Oekraïne en is geraam op R133,7 miljoen in 2020.
Blokkering van uitvoer na Rusland sal ook
’n nadelige uitwerking op Suid-Afrika se beduidende handel in landbou-kommoditeite met daardie land hê.
Suid-Afrika se uitvoer na Rusland beloop meer as dubbel sy landbou-invoer. Landbou- invoer het stabiel gebly op ongeveer R2 miljard tussen 2016 tot 2020, terwyl uitvoer vanaf R2,1 miljard in 2016 tot R4 miljard in 2020 toegeneem het. Die Oekraïne-Rusland-konflik hou dus beduidende gevolge in vir die prestasie van Suid-Afrika se landbousektor.
Die regering moet dringend stappe neem om die vernietigende gevolge van hierdie verlore inkomste op die land se boere te versag;
byvoorbeeld deur marktoegang te bewerkstellig sodat produkte wat bestem is vir Oekraïne, elders versend kan word. Elke dag wat die regering versuim om op te tree, hou ’n risiko in vir broodnodige werkgeleenthede in die sektor.
Agri SA sal alles in sy vermoë doen om met die regering en bedryfsbelanghebbendes oor die waardeketting heen te skakel, sodat ons gesamentlik kan verseker dat Suid-Afrikaners toegang het tot genoegsame voedsel in dié onsekere en moeilike ekonomiese tye.
Oekraïense krisis se uitwerking op voedselsekerheid
Baie gewilde Ghaapseberg Boerbokgroepveiling
STELLALANDER-VRYBURG- Die 14de produksieveiling van die Ghaapseberg Boerbokgroep en gasverkopers het op 9 Maart plaasgevind in Vryburg by die skougronde.
Die groot getal mense wat die veiling bygewoon het, was duidelik ‘n bewys dat die groep reeds baie gewild en bekend is in die Boerbokbedryf. Die duurste stoetram, lot 11 - JJ20-010, van Wiep Joubert van Reivilo is verkoop vir R60 000 aan Jabra van Wyk van Upington. Die duurste kudderam, lot 5 – JJ20-033 ook van Wiep Joubert is verkoop aan Lood Pretorius van Reivilo vir R18 000. Die duurste stoetooi, lot 44 – JJ21-26 is verkoop vir R20 000 aan Jabra van Wyk en kom ook uit die stoet van Wiep Joubert.
Die gemiddeld pryse van die stoetramme was R23 000 en stoetooie se gemiddelde pryse was R 16 500. Die kudderamme verkoop vir R12 421 gemiddeld en kuddeooie is verkoop teen ‘n gemiddeld van R10 272. Kommersiële oop-ooie behaal ‘n gemiddeld van R 5 423.
Die pryse behaal op die veiling weerspieël die top kwaliteit diere wat aangebied was deur telers sowel as gasverkopers. Noordkaap Lewendehawe Vryburg wat die veiling aangebied het, met Theuns Visser as afslaer, wens Ghaapseberg Boerbokgroep en hul gasverkopers geluk met hul suksesvolle veiling. (Foto’s: verskaf)

Farewell to former principal
STELLALANDER- VRYBURG- Delareyville circuit and Naledi Primary School bid farewell to their former principal, Malilemo Shiffra Shoarane on 4 March at Faith Mission Church in Ottosdal.

Former principal Shoarane was part of the Department of education for 33 years, 8 months and was the principal of Naledi Primary school for 16 years.

STELLALANDER- VRYBURG- Planne en goedkeuring is op die tafel vir Vryburg se eie Mall.
Volgens Ancora Retail Property Specialists, is onder andere Checkers, Woolworths, Mr Price Sport en DisChem van die voornemende huurders vir die nuwe Vryburg Mall. Vryburg Mall gaan langs die N14 op die Suidwestelike rand van die dorp geleë wees en sal voorsiening maak vir beide laer en hoër LSM-groepe.
Die sentrum sal maklik vanaf die N14 toeganklik wees en sal ‘n taxi-aflaai insluit om ‘n bestendige stroom kliënte te bring.
Gegewe sy grootte van 1 8 8 4 4 m ², sal Vryburg Mall homself funksioneel vestig as ‘n gemeenskaps- inkopiesentrum, wat gerief, mode en kos bied en die dorp van sy eerste gesinsvriendelike en veilige inkopie-ervaring voorsien.

Vryburg kry sy eie Mall

STELLALANDER-VRYBURG- Die 1991 Matriekklas van Hoërskool Vryburg het die naweek van 11 en 12 Maart hulle 30 jaar reünie in Vryburg gevier.
Oudleerder Talita Smit het vanuit Florida, VSA stelling op haar Springbokvelletjie ingeneem tydens die reünie vieringe in Vryburg.
Hoofdogter en Hoofseun van 1991, Ruvé Kock en Dave Taljaard tydens die geselligheid.
Die reünie sou verlede jaar gehou word, maar weens Covid moes dit uitgestel word. Bykans 30 oudleerders, met van hulle gades, van die groep van 85 het die feesvieringe bygewoon. Slegs vyf van die groep van 85 is deur die dood weggeneem. ‘n Hele aantal van die groep woon nou in die buiteland en het deur middel van foto’s en ‘n whatsappgroep deel aan die feesvieringe gehad. ‘n Oudleerder, Talita Smit, het vanuit Florida, VSA stelling op haar Springbokvelletjie in haar sitkamer ingeneem en in die gees saamgekuier. Die klas van 1991 was bevoorreg om daardie jaar die matriekklas te wees met die skool se eeufeesvieringe. Oudleerders van so ver as die Kaap, Gauteng, Dewetsdorp, Postmasburg, Potchefstroom en omliggende dorpe van Vryburg het skool-en sportuitstappiestaaltjies gedeel. Die skool- sokkies en busritte na sportbyeenkomste was weer in die fynste besonderhede herleef. Die oudleerders het Saterdag (12 Maart), hulle skooldae herleef toe hulle ‘n besoek aan die skool gebring het. Hulle het stelling in die banke van die destydse Biologieklas van Eddie Cilliers ingeneem. Later die aand was daar heerlik saam gekuier en Vryburg steaks geniet terwyl daar nog meer stories van ouds uitgeruil was. (Foto’s:

Klas van ‘91 hou reünie
STELLALANDER-POMFRET- The Land Claims Court of South Africa has made important finding in favour of the community of Pomfret in the matter that was brought by the Dutch Reformed Presbytery, Mafikeng on behalf of its members who are living in Pomfret. In her Judgment Justice Cowen (a judge of the Land Claims Court), gave a full summary if the background of the Pomfret community and emphasized that they, as is the case with all South Africans, enjoy protection under the Constitution and laws of South Africa.
At the end of her judgement the Judge Cowen made the following order:
1) She declared that Minister of Public Works and Minister of Defence and Military Veterans are denying or depriving the Pomfret Community of access to water, electricity and sanitation and health services.
2) She directed the Ministers referred to in 1) to take such steps necessary in their respective capacities as owners or persons in control of the property to restore the residents of Pomfret community with access to adequate water, electricity, sanitation and health services and, where relevant, to facilitate their restoration through any responsible organ of State.
3) She ordered the Ministers in 1) above to deliver a report within six months to record their progress.

4) She ordered The Kagisano-Molopo Municipality to deliver a report within six months on how the Ministers have complied with the order in 1) above.
5) She made provision in specific order that the Pomfret community can approach the court if the reports must be delivered are not satisfactory.
6) The judge ordered the Ministers in 1) above to pay the legal expenses of the attorney and advocate who assisted in bringing the application for and on behalf of the community via the church.

Louw Visser(6) en Komei Duminy(6) van Laerskool Kameel het ook aan die atletiekbyeenkoms deelgeneem. Louw en Komei het albei aan die 60m en 60m-hekkies items deelgeneem. Die Kaapstad-fietstoer
Die Kaapstad-fietstoer, die wêreld se grootste fietswedren het in 40 jaar net ses fietsryers gehad wat elke uitgawe gery het. Twee het net een van die 39 gemis. Die 44ste uitgawe het Sondag (13 Maart) plaasgevind. Dit is die mooiste fietswedren ter wêreld wat die Kaapse Skiereiland sirkel, begin en eindig in die skaduwee van Tafelberg, een van die sewe natuurwonders van die wêreld.
13 van Vryburg Multi-sport fietsryers het aan die Kaapstad fietstoer deelgeneem. Hierdie tawwe manne en vroue is Rudi Steyn, Chris van der Linde, Risca Strydom, Gerhard Strydom, Niel Joubert, Martinette Joubert, Wilhelm Kruger, Delia Kruger, Willem Du Toit, Alta Du Toit, Armandt Badenhorst, Christo Strydom en De Wet van Huysteen.
