Guidance and counseling is actually required by students in elementary schools because students from there are not ready to challenge an issue, they do not have the positive understandability and the positive thought about issues being confronted like family issues, for example, lack of parent’s attention, parents behaving impudently and so on, friendship issues like bullying and socializing issues, for example, lack of interaction in society. The role of counseling is to help solving the student’s problem and provide an understanding so that students can think positively and solve the problems they face. Eventually, attitudes, behaviors, and ways of thinking of students are broader and positive when experiencing problems.
Guidance and counseling in elementary school is required to contribute support to students and improve their potential. In addition, guidance and counseling teachers will also assist classroom teachers in providing guidance and services for elementary school students so that guidance and counseling services are optimal. E. Conditional Sentence Type 1
Conditional sentence type 1 is a conditional statement where the condition is very likely to happen (realistic to happen) in the future (Lena, 2020). It composes of a conditional sentence (if clause) and also a main clause, meaning that there must be a condition here and there will be a result / effect from these conditions.
Sentence structure:
If + Simple Present + ...., Simple Future + .... Verb3 If + S + Verb1 + ...., S+ Will / Shall / Verb1 + ....
In type 1 conditional sentences, the event has not yet progressed to the point that it is very possible to happen if the conditions are met.
This sentence is used to discuss a situation that has not occurred in the present and will occur in the future if the conditions are met. Type 1 conditional sentence is used when the result of the condition has the possibility to manifest in the future because the condition is realistic to be met.
When to Use Conditional Sentence Type 1
There are several condition to use conditional sentence type 1:
a) We use conditional statements for the things that may happen in the future.
Example:
I will buy clothes if they are cheap.
b) When we use or express a wish, hope, assumption, or plan that may or may not be realized.
Example:
If I can finish my work early, I will go out for dinner with you.
The Characteristics of Conditional Sentence Type 1
There are several characteristics conditional sentence type 1:
a) If word is used in the clause (subordinate clause) because this clause begins with an if and often called as if clause.
b) Use of modal auxiliary: will, can, may, must, could, might, etc.
