6 SIMPULAN DAN SARAN

6.1 Simpulan

Beberapa hal yang dapat disimpulkan dari fakta-fakta yang diperoleh melalui penelitian ini, yaitu:

a. Ekstrak etanol rimpang Temu Ireng dan ekstrak etanol daun Ki Urat ditentukan sebagai kandidat ekstrak bahan aktif antiphotoaging karena memiliki aktivitas penghambatan pembentukan MMP-1 selama paparan UV dan memiliki aktivitas antioksidan.

b. Ekstrak etanol daun Ki Urat berpotensi sebagai bahan aktif antiphotoaging yang dapat menghambat pembentukan MMP-1 dan menghambat penurunan pembentukan prokolagen tipe I melalui mekanisme aktivitas antioksidan.

c. Keberadaan senyawa fenol, khususnya flavonoid, dalam ekstrak tersebut sebagai antioksidan berperan penting dalam mencegah photoaging dengan menghambat pembentukan MMP-1 dan menghambat penurunan pembentukan prokolagen tipe I akibat paparan UV.

6.2 Saran

Berdasarkan hasil penelitian ini maka diajukan beberapa saran yang perlu untuk ditindaklanjuti,

a. Perlu dilakukan penelitian dan pengembangan ekstrak etanol daun Ki Urat sebagai bahan aktif antiphotoaging dalam formula produk kosmetik komersial melalui suatu rangkaian uji klinis.

b. Perlu dilakukan isolasi terhadap senyawa antioksidan pada ekstrak etanol daun Ki Urat yang berperan langsung dalam aktivitas antiphotoaging.
