1. (1) This Act may be cited as the" Abattoirs Act Amend- ment Act, 1947 ".
(2) The Abattoirs Act, 1911-1946, as amended by this Act, may be cited as the" Abattoirs Act, 1911-1947 ".

~(3) The Abattoirs Act, 1911-1946, is hereinafter referred

to as " the principal Act".

2. Section 48 of the principal Act is amended-
(a) by inserting after the word "on" in the sixth line thereof the words " the amount of any" ;
(b) by inserting after the word" abattoir" in the eighth line thereof the words" which at the time being have not been paid to the councilor councils by the board as provided by this section" ;
(c) by striking out the paragraph in subsection (1) thereof commencing" Fourthly" (as enacted by section 12 of the Abattoirs Act Amendment Act, 1938) and by inserting in lieu thereof the following paragraph : -
Fourthly, in payment to the council of the local government area of which the abattoirs area consists, the moneys borrowed by the

council for the purposes of the abattoir or, in case such area includes territory beyond one local government area, in payment to the constituent corporations of the moneys so borrowed, in accordance with the arrangement for the time being in force pursuant to proclama- tion with respect to such area, and so that all moneys so borrowed shall be fully paid by the board as aforesaid within a period of not more than forty-two years from the date of the borrow- ing thereof: Provided that, with the consent of the councilor, as the case may be, of the consti- tuent corporations, the board may carry to a reserve fund the whole or any part of its revenue which otherwise would be required to be paid as provided by this paragraph:
