Subject: RE: Re-grassing Hello Jill
I am responding to the email you sent to various Councillors and Board Members below.
What you have said is not correct.
My understanding is that the A&P Association asked for their land to be cleared and sowed prior to the January show. Some areas were sown in September/October, which left only the area occupied by the contractor which was vacated in December. We recommended to the A&P Association that the area vacated by the contractor was not sown in December as grass is highly unlikely to grow at that time of the year. They also received the same advice from a local contractor. The A&P Association said that it had to be sown then.
The re-leveling, fertilising and sowing work was undertaken via the GBSRF who used a professional local agricultural contractor. Duncan McKenzie from the A&P Association also assisted with the work. The work was undertaken on the basis that it would meet our obligation to the A&P Association. We do not have the funding to re-do the work, which is why we wished to delay it.
As expected, the grass didn’t grow very well. The A&P Association came back to us asking for the GBSRF members or Council to sow it again. We said we would provide the A&P Association with some more seed but that they would have to do the work themselves. So far, the A&P Association have not come back to us asking for the seed.
Yes, it is an example of misinformation, but not by Council or the GBSRF.

Subject: Re-grassing
Good evening everyone,
At present nearly all the A&P land that has been available for parking for the last 20 or so years is still currently available for parking. Pretty much none of the additional land
offered by the A&P Association can be used yet as it is being re-grassed. It is not ploughed up. Interestingly, the A&P Association happily gave access to the new
recreation facility project over their land, on the understanding that it was “returned” in the same state. When the A&P Association approached TDC about this they were told that TDC had no money for it. The A&P Association are having to reinstate the land to its former condition themselves, at considerable cost.
This is an example of misinformation that is put out there that I think it is really important to minimise or eliminate if possible, and that I asked for your help with.
Regards
Jill Pearson
