General Business:
Tilligerry – received a $100,000 grant from Holden, they were about 1700 submissions and their 60 sec video was chosen over all of those. Tamsin Lewis came up for the release and she was wonderful staying and chatting to the children. Holden will be giving 2 grants per year for the next five years.
Grahame – if anyone interested in a box trailer 7 x 4 with 6mths rego, in need of some repairs let him know.
In a press release by Scott McDonald it was announced that Newcastle Athletics Track &
Field has been shortlisted of 1 of 34 to have the track resurfaced with a $950,000 grant.
Zone:
Grahame handed out the Inability to proceed form, Relay Entry form, Centre Allocation of parent helpers duties, timetable for Zone and Canteen rosters. These forms have been emailed to centres after the meeting.
Due to ANL field having specific areas for throws and jumps where only certain age groups can compete Grahame has modified the field events for Zone into approximately 1 hour events. No additional events will be called for Field until all events in the previous group have been completed. A new list of events will be posted onto the Port Hunter Zone website. Centres are asked to make this information known to the athletes competing.
Wallsend, Stockton & Port Stephens are still to provide Grahame with the total numbers of registered athletes in the U7 to U17 age groups from their centre for the Handicap pointscore at Zone. They are asked to send this information before the Zone carnival please.
There are only 319 entries this year which is 44 less than 2014
All centres are to bring their McDonalds & JetStar shades plus their McDonalds drink bottles to Zone, preferably on the Friday afternoon.
ANL will be setting up from 3.30pm on Friday and all centres are asked to provide at least 1 helper on Friday and they can also set up their tents then.
Newcastle City Council have indicated that they are going to charge Zone $1814 to hold the carnival at ANL, Troy will chase this up as Grahame said that he has the charges from the Council due to him being the booking officer for Newcastle Athletics track and this is much higher than usual for a junior event.
ANL require an additional set of HJ bags and approximately 20 additional hurdles. Troy will organise. They are also getting PA speakers from Kennard’s Hire and are trying to get an electric noticeboard also.
There will be no food sold from the canteen at ANL only tokens for the BBQ. Canteen will only sell drinks and lollies. They were offered the loan of pie warmers but said that they don’t sell food from their canteen.
Officials will be offered a BBQ for their lunches and if that does not suit they will need to supply their own food.
Meeting closed 9.30 pm
