The Council may direct that a copy of any such policy be posted for a fixed period on appropriate notice boards on the school premises. Employees of the college and enrolled students of the college who will be appointed as members of the council under the Education Act 1964-1974 shall be elected in accordance with these regulations.

If students request to withdraw on a similar basis after the seventh week of classes, the approval of the request will depend on the discretion of the head of school or department responsible for the course in which the students are enrolled. If such students wish to continue the same course at a later date, they will have to apply for re-admission.

PROVISIONS FOR IMPLEMENTATION OF RULE 3.5 PROGRESSION AND EXCLUSION

GENERAL

On the advice of the Student Assessment Committee and with the approval of the chairman of the Education Committee/Teacher Training Council or nominee, students may be offered the opportunity to take another component in place of the failed component, if such a component is available. Students who accumulate failing grades above the limits established in TABLE 3, regardless of whether such failing grades are subsequently made up, may be liable for expulsion.

ADVICE TO STUDENTS Assessment requirements

ORGANISED SPORTING/CULTURAL ACTIVITIES

When a student is absent from class for a college-sanctioned activity, staff are expected to assist the student in making up the missed work upon request. Students who will be absent from class for College-sanctioned activities or for any other reason are advised, as a matter of courtesy, to contact the teaching staff involved.

EDUCATIONAL SERVICES

If necessary, training in the use of the Information Center equipment can be arranged with staff. The Computing Services Manager is responsible to the Executive Principal for implementing the computing policies and plans adopted by the College.

SOURCES OF ASSISTANCE

The College Computer Users Committee provides input to the Computing Policy and Planning Committee and liaises directly with the Manager of Computing Services and Sectional Managers of the Computing Services Unit. The members of the College Computer Users' Committee are the six chairmen of the local Computer Users' Groups.

THE UNION

Staff in the Union Office are able to direct students to someone who can help with TEAS questions. Services are not a static thing, so students should check the notice boards, NOTA, DECAE and notices in the Union offices for news.

CONSTITUTION OF THE UNION

Member' means a member of the Executive of the Union as defined in Part VII - Section 2 (a) and (b) of this Constitution. Any student of the College, or any executive officer granted academic leave, to whom current Union dues have been paid, shall be a member of the Union.

The Annual General Meeting of the Union is convened in the month of September or October. Additional business may be received at any time up to and including the commencement of the Meeting;.

PART VII - UNION EXECUTIVE AND OFFICERS OF THE UNION

The Secretary will be responsible for:-. a) convene meetings of the Union as prescribed in Part VI of this Constitution;. An Executive Officer of the Union may resign by giving written notice to the Secretary or Acting Secretary of the Union.

CAMPUS VICE-PRESIDENTS (a)

Such submissions may be published with the permission of the officer concerned. a) If an accidental vacancy occurs in the executive board, such vacancy must be filled by electing a new executive director in a supplementary election that is properly conducted at a meeting of the Union Council. The Union shall be liable for the authorized acts of its employees, representatives and honorary officers and shall indemnify them in respect of payments made and personal liabilities incurred by them:-. a) in the ordinary and proper conduct of EU business; and. (b) in or about anything done by them for the preservation of the property of the Union, provided always, however, that such allowance shall not apply to costs exceeding $100 per annum without the express approval of.

PART IX - COMMITTEES

Provided that nothing herein contained shall prevent the payment in good faith of interest to any such member in respect of moneys advanced by such member to the Union or otherwise due by the Union to such member or of compensation to any officers or servants of the Union or to any member of the Union or other person in return for any services actually rendered to the Union. Provided further that nothing herein contained shall be so construed as to prevent the reimbursement to any member of his own expenses and interest or money lent or rent of goods or rent for premises forfeited to the Union.

The income and assets of the Union, whether or not earned, shall be used exclusively for the achievement of the objectives of the Union as set forth herein, and no part thereof shall be paid or transferred directly or indirectly by way of dividends, bonuses or otherwise. with profit to or between members of the Union. Subject to the Bylaws of the Brisbane College of Advanced Education and except for the correction of typographical and similar errors, this Constitution may be amended, supplemented, modified or repealed only by a referendum or at an Annual General Meeting and only by a two-thirds majority vote.

Limited accommodation for students attending the College is available in the Halls of Residence on the Mount Gravatt campus. The residence dean and the manager are responsible for the welfare of the students in the residence.

FACILITIES BANKING

Mount Gravatt Campus: Ample parking facilities are available to all members of the campus community. Kedron Park Campus: A swimming pool is located on campus in addition to tennis and netball courts, two ovals, a running track and a gymnasium.

CULTURAL ACTIVITIES

The College Dance Company, 'Momentum', provides additional performance experience for selected students, with performance seasons in the Woodward Theater and community venues. Regular concert performances by visiting artists, staff and students are held in the Music Building, Kelvin Grove Campus.

CENTRES FOR PROMOTION OF RESEARCH AND LEARNING

Facilities at the centre: In addition to having its own equipment and facilities, the center has access to all campus facilities. The center also runs a number of in-service teacher training programs under the auspices of the Queensland Department of Education and the Queensland In-service Education Committee.

INFORMATION AND ENQUIRIES

Numerous groups, including the Queensland Writing Project and the Resource Teachers Branch of the Queensland Special Education Association, use the facilities provided by the Center and exhibitions of student work are occasionally presented. Reading Center - Mount Gravatt Campus: The Reading Center, located on Level 2 of the Main Teaching Building on the Mount Gravatt Campus opened in November 1979.

STUDY SCHOOL SCHEDULE Semester 1

Extended Bachelor of Education programme: a course of units (normally a minimum of four) designed to replace the teaching diploma (upgrading); and. Extended bachelor's education: Teachers with less than three years of basic education in teacher education and a minimum of three years of teaching experience within the last eight years.
