Literature review

Financial performance

Non-financial performance

Similarly, extensive PMS research covering the use of non-financial performance measures can be seen in the early 2000s. Newer performance measures, based on non-financial criteria, have been increasingly used by organizations over time. He argued that the main reasons suggested for the use of non-financial performance measures are that these measures are better indicators of future financial performance than accounting measures and are valuable in evaluating and motivating managerial performance.

This development is a response to the significant criticism of excessive emphasis on and concern about the targeting of financial indicators. For example, critics argued that emphasizing financial indicators can lead to short-proven non-financial performance measures are better than financial measures in helping organizations implement and manage new initiatives. Within the family of non-financial performance measures, those related to customers have a higher adoption rate compared to the other non-financial measures, and the results supported the importance of non-financial measures, especially measures of customer satisfaction, product quality and delivery and supplier reliability.

A study conducted by Mohamed Sheikh and , reveals that “one-time delivery” and “efficiency and utilization” metrics are considered highly important by most Saudi manufacturing companies. In the latter study, it was found that customer-related measures are widely reported and perceived to be crucial - a number of other measures related to quality, timeliness and efficiency and utilization are also widely monitored and considered very important.

Corporate Governance

In corporate governance reforms, an important aspect is whether the implementation of corporate governance principles and codes has a positive impact on corporate performance. The literature testing the relationship between various corporate governance mechanisms and firm performance is extensive. Over time, many corporate governance mechanisms have been studied in relation to corporate performance. The most commonly used mechanisms are: CEO duality, board size, proportion of non-executive directors, board committees, ownership structure and concentration, executive compensation and incentives. schematics.

Over time, various authors began to use more comprehensive measures of corporate governance than a single variable or a single governance mechanism, the so-called corporate governance indices. In terms of performance, there are three main approaches to firm performance in social science research: research based on market prices, accounting ratios, and total factor profitability. In our paper, we present the studies undertaken since the 1990s regarding the relationship between various corporate governance mechanisms and firm performance and between the corporate governance and performance index for developed and developing countries around the world.

The results of the studies are inconclusive; some studies indicated a strong positive relationship, and others a negative correlation, between corporate governance and business performance, while a third category of studies found no relationship at all. We used the participant observation method by drawing conclusions about the possible causes of the unclear results about the existence and nature of the relationship between corporate governance and business performance.

Introduction

Bangladesh textile industry

Structure of the Textile Industry in Bangladesh

Backward linkage industries

Forward linkage industries

From research into textile sectors; it turned out that most textile factories are operating with poor capacity utilization. Two or more than two different mills are combined under one administration, this is called compound mill. Bangladesh's export-oriented ready-made garment manufacturing and primary textile sector, with supportive support from the accessories industry, contribute 81 percent to the country's total export earnings.

The domestic textile industry has made a significant contribution to the rapid growth of Bangladesh's RMG industry. Presence of a growing primary textile industry capable of providing significant supply of inputs to the RMG industry. In fact, the value addition of RMG units using inputs provided by the domestic primary textile industry is much more as compared to those that depend entirely on imported inputs.

But the export-oriented RMG industry is now in tough competition due to global trade liberalization under WTO rules and the Agreement on Textiles and Clothing (ATC), in the quota-free world. It is widely believed that the development of an effective backward linkage along with a well-designed roadmap for future growth would have provided safeguards to sustain and expand Bangladesh's textile and RMG export in the quota-free world. The development of textile and RMG industries requires the preparation of a pragmatic roadmap with synchronized strategic action plans regarding technology, inputs, HRD, quality, productivity, compliance and other aspects of trade promotion.

The preparation of a roadmap essentially requires updated information from the perspective of past performance to analyze the past and present situation and draw conclusions that would serve as a basis for future actions for the development of the sector. On the other hand, issues related to quality, productivity, compliance and cost reduction depend on the sector's sustainable supply of a skilled workforce. The demand for yarn (cotton, polyester, CVC, PC, mélange, acrylic, viscose), fabrics (woven, knitted) and RMG is high compared to the available capacity.

Currently, DOT (Department of Textiles) has set up an MIS and a website to complement the objective of the Ministry's information and database needs. Updated information about the current scenario of textile sector and RMG sector in Bangladesh is available on this website.
