ABSTRACT
Transportation is pervasive and extremely vital function in all industrialized
economies. Transportation systems provide the critical links between producers and
consumers. The movement of people also is a significant function of transportation.
Transportation provide the means by which labor resources
of
a country are made
accessible at various locations throughout a country and the
world-Medan municipality as a trade city and Metropolitan also as administration
central for North Sumatera province relating closely with transportation sector as
supporting access of trades goods distribution and also as a higher people mobility
rate with the total population 1.752.208 person with variously races. And to fulfil the
requirement on land transportation particularly for inter-city transportation for Medan
city entire, it has least 33 transportation corporation.
However, in this study, the writer does conduct the research for the demand
for inter-city bus for provincial with the route Medan-Jakarta in three sample these
are CV. Makmur, Po. Medan Jaya, and Fa. PMH.
, From the result of research that has been conducted is known the factors
influencing the demand for inter-city bus for provincial with the route Medan-Jakarta
are cost and the intensity of departure. From the result of regression that has been
conducted by microsta program. is obtained the result that the factor influencing
greatly is the intensity of departure. However, both factors influencing the demand on
transportation of bus inter-city with this province is amount 95%.
