STATEMENT OF ORIGINALITY

Here with I declare that the research paper I wrote as a partial fulfillment of the requirements for the sarjana degree and submitted to the English Education Department, the Faculty of Education and Letters wholly constitutes my own original scientific writing.

As for the other persons’ works whose ideas are quoted in this paper have been referred to appropriately in accordance to the prevailing legal and intellectual ethic in the world of scientific writing tradition.

However, if the originality of this paper either partially or wholly is, later on, proved or it falls under convincing plagiarism, I would be prepared to receive any consequences in the form of any sanction such as losing my related academic degree obtained from the institution as well as other rules prevailing in Indonesia.

ABSTRACT

Muhamad Farhan Munawar Tanjung. 181230127. 2022. The Implementation of Metacognitive Strategy to Achieve Listening Comprehension (Pre-Experimental Research at the Eleventh Grade of Kulni Modern Islamic Boarding School at Cikande serang banten).

Metacognitive is the process of thinking about our minds, that is how a process, and control that information to find new understanding/knowledge and seek relationships with other knowledge. The purpose of this study is to discover how students in class XI of Kulni Modern Islamic Boarding School at Cikande, Serang Banten in use English listening metacognitive strategies, as well as the differences in improving English listening skills among students before and after receiving metacognitive learning. The population of this study included 61 students from class XI of Kulni Modern Islamic Boarding School at Cikande, Serang Banten. The sample consisted of 29 students from IPS A class XI. The researcher used quantitative data analysis in this study. Data is gathered by administering tests to the class. There are two kinds of tests: pre-test and post-test. According to the study's findings, the average pre-test score at researcher Modern Islamic Boarding School at Cikande, Serang Banten in was 40.41, and the average post-test score in the experimental class was 57.21. Based on the data presented above, it is possible to conclude that there is a 41.5 percent change in learning outcomes. Based on result of the study, applying metacognitive strategies for learning can help students become interested in listening activities and can be an alternative innovation in learning listening.

A Brief Biography

The writer, Muhamad Farhan Munawar Tanjung, was born in Bogor, on December 28th, 1998. He is the second of four children of Drs.H Haerul and Dra.

Rahmalia. he has young brothers namely “Muhammad Fajar Maulidi Tanjung”, sisters and brothers namely “Tadzkia nur Fariha and Miftah Farid,”

For his education, he completed basic education at SDN Gunung Batu I Bogor, West of java in 2011, while junior and senior secondary education was completed respectively at Gontor Islamic Boarding School, Ponorogo, East of Java in 2017. Then, in 2018, he continued the program His education is at the Department of English Education, Faculty of Education and Teacher Training, Islamic state University "Sultan Maulana Hasanuddin" Banten.
