Realization of Domestic Coal Uptake in the First Quarter Reached 31.53 Million Tons
Rio Indrawan
T HE MINISTRY of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) is optimistic that domestic coal needs will be met from national production, although there is a tendency to decrease demand as a result of slowing industrial operations due to the Corona or Covid-19 virus pandemic.
Agung Pribadi, Head of the Communication and Public Communication and Cooperation (KLIK) Bureau of the Ministry of ESDM said that until the first quarter national coal production reached 143 million tons while the realization of the Domestic Market Obligation (DMO) reached 31.53 million tons or 20% from the DMO target for 2020.
"The existence of the Covid-19 pandemic has indeed made coal demand from industry fall. But, this realization can cover domestic needs," Agung said, Thursday (9/4).
Coal DMO realization, Agung explained, consisted of supplying electricity (State Electric Company/PLN) of 25.6 million tons. The domestic coal needs for the general non-electricity sector reached 5.93 million tons. Even though it is still under the DMO, it guarantees that there is no shortage of supply either for industry or PLN. "This can still cover the needs of PLN and general non-electricity," Agung said.
The government has targeted 155 million tons of DMO coal this year with a production target of 550 million tons this year. Agung explained,…
Realisasi Serapan Batu bara Dalam Negeri Kuartal I Mencapai 31,53 Juta Ton
Rio Indrawan

IMA-Daily Update Page 4
Agung explained, the threat of a decline in coal prices in the global market began to affect coal production and sales in the country. "If the Covid-19 pandemic continues, domestic coal demand is expected to fall by around 5%," Agung said.
The government has set a coal selling price for general electricity of US$ 70 per ton in 2020. Meanwhile, the selling price of coal for other industries in the country refers to the Reference Coal Price (HBA) set by the government every month. "The April HBA is set at US$ 65.77 per ton or down US$
1.31 per ton from the previous month at US$ 67.08 per ton," explained Agung.
Although there is potential for a decline in demand, the government said Agung continues to maintain the supply of coal for various industries in the country can be met from domestic production, even in the midst of a pandemic. "This is because coal production is still in accordance with the plan set so that supply is maintained," said Agung. ◆
“HBA April ditetapkan sebesar US$65,77 per ton atau turun US$1,31 per ton dari bulan sebelumnya US$67,08 per ton,”
jelas Agung.
kata Agung. ◆

Adaro Energy's Head of Corporate Communications Febriati Nadira said, until the end of 2019, the development of the 2 x 1,000 megawatt (MW) PLTU project had reached 91.8%. ADRO's management also continues to target the project to be completed this year regardless of the distribution of Corona.
The power plant, located in Batang, Central Java, is managed by PT Bhimasena Power Indonesia (BPI). Note Kontan.co.id, this company is in the form of a consortium company between PT Adaro Power, Electric Power Development Co. Ltd, and Itochu Corporation. This project also cost an investment of US$ 4.2 billion.
Febriati said, in order to minimize the impact of corona, currently the BPI continues to coordinate intensively with the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contractor as the executor of the Bhimasena power plant construction.
"The coordination is to prepare preventive measures and business continuity plans to minimize and mitigate Covid-19 risk to the project," she explained, Thursday (9/4).
Although not yet explained in detail, Febriati believes the Bhimasena PLTU project will have a positive impact on ADRO's overall revenue and profit.
For information, the Bhimasena power plant requires around 1 million tons of coal per year. Later, ADRO's subsidiary in the coal mining sector, PT Adaro Indonesia, will supply coal to the PLTU.
In addition, Febriati also ensured that the Tanjung Power Indonesia (TPI) power plant located in Tanjung, South Kalimantan, had not been affected by the distribution of corona and was still operating normally. The power plant has been completed in September 2019 for unit I and December 2019 for unit II.
masih beroperasi normal. PLTU ini telah
selesai pembangunannya pada September
2019 untuk unit I dan Desember 2019 untuk
unit II.

However, on the other hand, preventive measures are still being taken so that operational activities in the 2x100 MW power plant capacity are not disrupted. "In anticipation, TPI has prepared a crisis management plan well if bad conditions occur," she said.
Just so you know, since the TPI PLTU Unit I was operational, this plant was able to maintain high operational performance and achieved 99.6% actual availability factors on average until December last year. The annual coal consumption of the TPI power plant is 1 million tons, all of which are supplied by ADRO from its closest concessions. ◆
Energy Commodities: Coal is the Most Stable Amidst Instability
Finna U. Ulfah
D ESPITE fluctuating movements through- out the year 2020, coal prices have managed to move relatively stable compared to other energy commodities amid the COVID-19 pandemic sentiment.
Capital Futures analyst Wahyu Laksono said that so far all commodities ranging from copper to coal experienced a weakening trend due to the spread of Covid-19 sentiment which weakened demand.
However, coal managed to move quite stable and did not fall deep enough among other energy commodities. He saw the demand for coal able to survive did not decrease significantly despite the sentiment spread covid-19.
Komoditas Energi: Batubara Paling Stabil di Tengah Ketidakstabilan
Finna U. Ulfah
Namun, batu bara berhasil bergerak cukup
stabil dan tidak jatuh cukup dalam di
antara komoditas energi lainnya. Dia
melihat permintaan batu bara mampu
bertahan tidak turun signifikan meskipun
terdapat sentimen penyebaran covid-19.

Throughout the year 2020, Newcastle coal prices for the most active contracts on the ICE exchange fell 9.4 percent. When compared with other energy commodities, WTI type oil has been corrected by 63.1 percent and the price of natural gas on the Nymex exchange has been corrected by 20.72 percent year-to-date.
Thus, the performance of coal does not seem as severe as the energy commodity market has expected. Wahyu also assessed that coal prices are still able to survive in a price range that is still at a reasonable level.
At the close of trading on Thursday (9/4/2020), the coal price of the April 2020 contract or the most active contract on the ICE exchange parked at the level of US$
63.6 per ton, up 1.52 percent. However, that level became the lowest level of coal since June 2017.
"The price is still in the range of US$ 60 per ton which is the annual acquisition price since coal has rebounded from its slump in 2016. The current coal price is still very reasonable, not severe," Wahyu told Bisnis.com, Thursday (9/4/2020).
Meanwhile, the widespread spread of Covid-19 to many countries outside China has triggered lockdowns in several countries, including large coal producing countries such as China and South Africa.
As a result, production is stuck and limits the supply that will enter the market.
The supply pressure is considered successful in offsetting the prospect of weak demand in line with the projected decline in global economic growth due to Covid-19 sentiment.
In addition, major coal importers such as China, Japan, South Korea and Taiwan have successfully overcome the Covid-19 outbreak so that the prospect of demand is believed not to be hit hard enough and will help prices to move more stable.
berhasil mengatasi wabah Covid-19 sehingga
prospek permintaan diyakini tidak akan
terhantam cukup keras dan akan membantu
harga untuk bergerak lebih stabil.

Citing estimates from the Swiss UBS Bank, China's coal consumption has now returned around 94 percent from its position last year.
Meanwhile, according to the China Coal Transportation and Distribution Association the use of coal by power plants from China's five major utilities reached 488,800 tons in the last week of March 2020, more than double the lowest level on February 10.
Huatai Futures analyst Wang Miao said that China had burned more coal after the local government imposed social restrictions to prevent the spread of Covid- 19. The burning activity is another signal that the first country hit by the Covid-19 outbreak will soon return to normal levels.
"If coal burning data can hold above current levels and continue to increase, then it shows China is starting to return to normal and helps coal prices which are in a weakening trend," Wang Miao said as quoted by Bloomberg, Sunday (12/4/
2020).
Meanwhile, on a weekly basis, Wahyu projects coal to move in the range of US$
63-US$ 70 per ton, while in the medium term the price of coal moves in the range of US$ 60-US$ 75 per ton.
2020).
Adapun, secara mingguan, Wahyu mem- proyeksi batu bara bergerak di kisaran US$63-US$70 per ton, sedangkan untuk jangka menengah harga batu bara ber- gerak di kisaran US$60-US$75 per ton.

Putu Agus Pransuamitra, CNBC Indonesia
C OAL prices have fallen sharply again this week, reaching the lowest level since 2016.
The Covid-19 pandemic is one of the main triggers for the collapse of commodity prices.
In four trading days (a Good Friday holiday day) Newcastle thermal coal prices continued to decline 5.04% to as low as US$ 59.4 per ton, based on Refinitiv data.
This level is the lowest since July 6, 2016.
Covid-19 pandemic which "attacked" 185 countries/territories led many countries to adopt a regional quarantine policy (lock- down) which reduced economic activity so that coal demand declined.
China, the country that first reported Covid-19, has "won" against the virus. Its distribution has been successfully stopped and economic activity has begun to run again. But it still has not been able to restore all coal imports as before.
China's coal imports in the first week of April 2020 totaled 3.3 million tons. Lower than the same period last year of 4.6 million tons.
Anjlok 5% di Pekan Ini, Harga Batu Bara Terendah Sejak 2016
Putu Agus Pransuamitra, CNBC Indonesia
H ARGA batu bara merosot tajam lagi di pekan ini, hingga menyentuh level terendah sejak 2016. Pandemi Covid-19 menjadi salah satu pemicu utama amblesnya harga komoditas itu.
Dalam empat hari perdagangan (sehari libur Jumat Agun g) har ga batu bara termal Newcastle terus mengalami penurunan 5,04%
ke levelUS$ 59,4 per ton, berdasarkan data Refinitiv. Level tersebut merupakan yang terendah sejak 6 Juli 2016.
Pandemi Covi d-19 yang "men yeran g"
185 negara/wilayah membuat banyak negara mengambil kebijakan karantina wilayah (lock- down) yang menurunkan aktivitas ekonomi sehingga permintaan batu bara menurun.
Tetapi tetap saja belum mampu memulihkan semua impor batu bara seperti semula.
Impor batu bara China pada pekan pertama bulan April 2020 total mencapai 3,3 juta ton.
Lebih rendah dari periode yang sama tahun
lalu sebesar 4,6 juta ton.
IMA-Daily Update Page 10
Meanwhile, in India which is in a lock- down, coal imports have also declined.
India imported 1.4 million tons of coal in the first week of April. Much lower than the previous same period of 4.8 million tons.
In addition, Australian thermal coal which has a calorific value of 6,000 Kcal/Kg, is widely exported to countries such as Japan, South Korea and Taiwan. However, in the first week of April, coal import anomalies occurred in these countries.
Based on Refinitiv data, from the end of March to Wednesday (04/08/2020), South Korean and Japanese thermal coal imports were 0.9 and 1.7 million tons, respectively.
This figure is lower compared to 2.7 and 3.2 million tons imported during the same period last year in each country.
In recent months, coal demand in the two countries has tended to be low and not as common.
The weakening of coal demand is due to winter which tends to be warmer than usual, and political efforts to combat carbon emissions.
From a political standpoint, Mizuho share- holders groups from Japan and Europe continue to pressure the financial institution to significantly reduce its lending to the coal and other fossil energy sectors.
Kiko Network, a Japanese non-govern- mental organization that led the resolution, described Mizuho as the world's largest private creditor for coal-fired power plant developers.
Mizuho said that currently his office was working to reduce the impact of environmental disbursement due to lending to the fossil energy sector and continue to try to be fair.
sikap adil.
IMA-Daily Update Page 11
Tokyo in 2015 is committed to cutting greenhouse gas emissions by 26% by 2030 from 2013 levels - this is a low target. But on the other hand, the government continues to finance overseas coal-fired power projects in countries such as Indonesia and Vietnam.
Japan even plans to build as many as 22 new coal-fired power plants over the next five years, the New York Times reported in February, as reported by Reuters.
Japan's reluctance to stop using coal, even when other countries turn to renewable energy, can be traced back to the 2011 Fukushima disaster. At that time, three reactors at the Daiichi nuclear power plant melted after the earthquake and tsunami struck the facility.
Since then, nuclear energy, which once supplied about a third of Japan's electricity, has become very unpopular. The country's geographical constraints make the rapid transition to renewable energy difficult.
Data from the Institute of Energy Economics in Tokyo shows fossil fuels produce three-quarters of Japan's energy in 2019.
This is clearly a big dilemma. Moreover, the proposal comes when citizens are more worried about a pandemic and recession than climate change.
However this pressure is also felt by the coal market because it is a threat to the long-term prospects of coal.
jangka panjang.

T HE CORONA pandemic (Covid-19) hit percenomians. The business sector is depressed, including coal mining. However, in the midst of these conditions, the mining services issuer PT Samindo Resources Tbk (MYOH) continues to intensively approach it so that it can pocket a new contract.
MYOH Head of Investor Relations Ahmad Zaki Natsir revealed, despite the pandemic pressure, his side remained optimistic that it could expand market share. Zaki said, MYOH was focusing on finding new contracts.
Moreover, the contract with Bayan Group was completed as of November 2019.
"Bayan's contract has been completed as of November 2019, currently we are focusing on finding a new contract. We hope that Corona will pass quickly so we can be more aggressive in making approaches," Zaki said when contacted by Kontan.co.id, Thursday (9/4).
Unfortunately, Zaki still hasn't provided any leakage, the number or which companies are being targeted by MYOH. What is clear is that MYOH's work is still based on contracts from PT Kideco Jaya Agung, a coal company from the Indika Group.
In Kontan.co.id's notes, PT Kideco Jaya Agung is the only customer who has a transaction value of more than 10% of the consolidated revenue, which is US $ 239.14 million or almost 94% of MYOH's total revenue in 2019.

P ANDEMI corona (Covid-19) memukul per- ekenomian. Sektor b isnis ter tekan, tak terkecuali untuk pertambangan batubara.
Namun, di tengah kondisi itu, emiten jasa pertambangan PT Samindo Resources Tbk (MYOH) tetap intensif melakukan pendekatan supaya bisa mengantongi kontrak baru.
Kepala Hubungan Investor MYOH Ahmad Zaki Natsir mengungkapkan, meski di tengah tekanan pandemi, pihaknya tetap optimistis bisa memperluas pangsa pasar. Zaki bilang, MYOH sedang fokus mencari kontrak baru.
Related to operational performance, Zaki
ensures that activities on the ground are

still ongoing. However, he did not deny that Covid-19 was an obstacle. Work protocols to prevent the spread of Covid-19 were carried out, for example by carrying out a mandatory quarantine for 14 days for people who had just arrived from the red zone or areas that were many positive cases of Covid-19.
"If the impact of Corona all sectors must feel. From the operational there must be restrictions, at the mine our client activity is still running," said Zaki.
He conveyed, export activities did not stop.
According to Zaki, the condition of China which is recovering from Corona has the potential to increase coal demand from the Bamboo Curtain country.
Related to the pressure on the market and coal prices, Zaki said that this did not have a direct impact on MYOH. However, if the client reduces production or coal mining activities, MYOH will be affected.
"Directly it has no effect. But if prices are low, client production is low, our targets are low too, that's more or less the relationship," explained Zaki.
By reflecting on the market conditions and coal prices in the first quarter of this year, Zaki also agreed that 2020 would be a challenging year for MYOH. Moreover, coal export destination countries such as China and India were also affected by Corona.
Therefore, continued Zaki, up to now MYOH has not set detailed operational and financial performance targets. Zaki said, his party is still negotiating and finalizing with clients who contract with MYOH.
"The problem is the target, the 2020 data is still not there. The negotiation process with the client is still ongoing," he said.
"Kalau dampak Corona semua sektor pasti merasakan.
jalan," ungkapnya.
IMA-Daily Update Page 14
What is clear, said Zaki, seeing that the pandemic is like now, it will set targets more realistic than last year. "I think we will be more realistic, given the many obstacles since the beginning of 2020," he continued.
Likewise with investment or capital expenditure (capex). Zaki said it would not be as aggressive as the past two years, so it would focus more on optimizing equip- ment and dump trucks purchased last year.
"Over the last two years we have realized more than US$ 25 million, it feels quite a lot that we have spent. So we will optimize the previous purchases," he said.
In Kontan.co.id's notes, MYOH bought 10 dump trucks last year with a budget of US$
14.5 million. During 2019, MYOH recorded a volume of overburden or overburden of 55.2 million bank cubic meters (bcm).
The number increased 1.09% on an annual basis (yoy) compared to the previous year's achievement. Meanwhile, the volume of coal taking MYOH also grew 13.49% yoy to 11.1 million tons last year.
With that achievement, MYOH posted revenues of US$ 254.45 million, up 5.5%
from revenues in 2018. However, MYOH only pocketed profit attributable to the owners of the parent entity amounting to US$ 26.07 million. This realization was down 15.62% from the 2018 net profit which reached US$ 30.89 million.
In the midst of pressure in the coal mining industry, Zaki said that MYOH continued to pursue business diversification into the Independent Power Producer (IPP) sector or the private electricity business.
He said, MYOH would focus on IPP based on New and Renewable Energy (EBT).
According to Zaki,…
Menurut
Zaki,…
IMA-Daily Update Page 15
According to Zaki, this year MYOH is again eyeing contracts in the electricity business, and is awaiting the opening of a tender from PT PLN (Persero).
"Diversification to IPP, especially EBT, is still ongoing, we are waiting for the opening of a new tender from PLN," he said. ◆

Trinitan Metals (PURE) Berhasil Cetak Nikel Kadar Tinggi, Apa
Rahasianya?
Pandu Gumilar
E MITEN sektor tambang PT Trinitan Metals and Minerals Tbk (PURE) telah menyelesaikan proses uji kelayakan untuk ekstraksi nikel menggunakan teknologi Hidrometalurgi Roasting-Leaching-Electro- winning Process (RLEP).
Direktur Operasional Trinitan Metals and Minerals Widodo Sucipto mengatakan bahwa teknologi hidrometalurgi RLEP mampu menghasilkan nikel murni ber- kadar 99,96 persen atau nikel kelas satu.
Produk ini, lanjutnya, dapat dimanfaatkan
untuk mengakselerasi industri mobil listrik
nasional, sekaligus mendukung program
pemerintah terkait hilirisasi nikel agar
dapat mendatangkan keuntungan besar
bagi bangsa Indonesia.

"After completing the due diligence process, the company opens wide opportunities for cooperation with miners who want to process low grade nickel ore even up to 1.0 percent," he said in an official broadcast on Thursday (04/09/
2020).
The issuer engaged in the metal and mineral processing industry claims that the new technology they have developed is capable of processing 1.0 percent ore laterite ore into 99.96 percent pure nickel metal.
Hydro Project Leader Trinitan Metals and Minerals Marjohan Satria explained that the RLEP technology is different from the Hydrometallurgical technology commonly used by smelters in Indonesia today, namely High Pressure Acid Leaching (HPAL).
"RLEP technology is able to produce pure nickel with 99.96 percent [first class nickel] faster and at a lower risk level.
Even nickel yields can reach 95 percent,"
he added.
In addition, Marjohan also explained that the nickel refining process using RLEP technology goes through three main steps.
PURE, he continued, ensures that no solid or liquid waste is wasted and has the potential to damage the environment in the application of this RLEP technology.
"Solid waste residue produced from nickel refining will be reprocessed into bricks for building. Sulfuric Acid chemicals needed in the extraction process can also be recycled continuously so that operating costs can be much lower," he explained.
To note, in the 2017 McKinsey report entitled "The Future of Nickel: A Class Act", the demand for first-class nickel is expected to continue to increase until 2025 due to the rapid development of the global electric car industry.

This strategy of Harum Energy (HRUM) survives amid the coal
market turmoil
Reporter: Dimas Andi | Editor: Anna Suci Perwitasari
P T HARUM Energy Tbk (HRUM) is trying to improve its performance this year despite the considerable pressure on the coal market.
HRUM Managing Director Ray Antonio Gunara said, his office continued to strive for efficiency in the production process and control operational costs so that HRUM's performance could survive amid various challenges. Especially the effect of weakening coal prices due to the impact of the spread of the corona virus outbreak.
However, he has not been able to disclose HRUM's revenue target or net profit throughout 2020.
If we look at the realization of last year, HRUM's income dropped 22.61% (yoy) to US$ 262.59 million. The company's net profit was corrected 41.82% (yoy) to US$
18.50 million.
In addition, HRUM will also spur operational performance this year. The company plans to produce around 4 million tons of coal this year. The amount is not much different from last year's achievements when HRUM scored a little over 4 million tons of coal production.
HRUM's coal production target this year is indeed not grandiose. Naturally, this company must always consider the dynamics of the global coal market.
gejolak pasar batubara
Reporter: Dimas Andi | Editor: Anna Suci Perwitasari
(yoy) menjadi US$ 18,50 juta.
Wajar
saja, perusahaan ini mesti selalu mem-
pertimbangkan dinamika pasar batubara
global.
