Abstrac
Teachers are professionals. Teacher certification program has been conducted so that teachers have mastery of competencies as required by the Law on Teachers and Lecturers. One purpose of certification is to improve the process and quality of education. Teachers who obtain professional allowance categorized as a professional teacher.
Findings by D. Deni, Koswara, et al. (2009) the junior high teacher certification in West Java had a very low correlation to the increased professionalism and the quality of learning; Teacher certification did not contribute to the professionalism of teachers; not contribute to the quality of learning. Badrun (2011) in Sleman district found that both the majority of teacher of post professional certification were not good. Most of the efforts of teachers who have passed the certification is not yet rapidly exhilarating. It all is a serious problem that requires a smart solution.
To ensure consistency of teacher professionalism along with the development of science, technology, and art, efforts need continuous professional improvement. Prescriptively, the support for management competency, empowerment strategies, supervision of development, and action research are alternate dimensions to improve the professionalism of teachers.
