Reading literature will make people understand about all of human characteristics such as love, hatred, emotion, and ambition. Therefore, the novel The Sheriff’s Pregnant Wife

ABSTRAK
Membaca literature akan membuat orang mengerti tentang semua karakter manusia seperti cinta, kebencian yang mendalam, emosi dan ambisi. Novel The Sherrif’s Pregnant Wife yang ditulis oleh Patricia Thayer menceritakan tentang kekhawatiran seorang wanita yang hamil tanpa mempunyai suami. Penulis akan membahas situasi ironi dan hubungan antara situasi ironi dan penerapan karakter dari Paige dan Reed Larkin. Disamping poin analisa yang digunakan untuk dibahas adalah tema, karakter, tempat kejadian, sudut pandang, dan ironi. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan formalistik untuk menganalisa situasi ironi yang terjadi dalam kehidupan Paige dan Reed. Berdasarkan analisa, Paige adalah wanita karir yang bekerja di kantor hukum dan bertemu dengan Drew McCarran. Mereka akhirnya menjalin kekasih hingga Paige hamil. Drew tidak mau bertanggung jawab atas kehamilan Paige, jadi Paige kembali ke kota asalnya. Ketika dia kembali, dia bertemu dengan mantan kekasihnya Reed. Dia akhirnya ingin menjadi ayah dari anak Paige dan situasi irony terjadi pada bagian ini. Untuk menyimpulkan, situasi ironi terjadi ketika Drew McCarran tidak mau bertanggung jawab atas kehamilan Paige dan Reed mantan kekasih Paige mau menerima kondisi Paige. Hubungan antara situasi ironi dan penerapan karakter dari Paige dan Reed adalah rumit, karena situasi ironi dapat mengubah karakter seseorang dalam novel ini.
